Someone recently asked if we kept a to-do list.
I don’t
But Elvera keeps a calendar. Everything goes on her calendar.
Yesterday, I told her that the SC-Arkansas game isn’t on TV. I will listen to it on the radio. It doesn’t matter where I am when I listen, and reception will be at least as good in SC as it is here. So, I suggested that I might take her to the mall in Spartanburg. Now, the Spartanburg Mall is the largest, and best within easy traveling distance.
So, she vowed to think about it.
😆
She thought about it. We will go to Spartanburg this afternoon, she will visit all the stores, then visit some of the places we used to go. Then, we will have dinner at Red Lobster because she has a coupon.
Also, since my gas tank is down to 70 miles, I can buy gas in SC. Gas in SC is about $.20 cheaper than here. I might save a couple of dollars by getting gas in SC.
😐
Two dollars is really trivial money. However, it is in our nature to go out of our way to save two dollars in gas where we would otherwise splurge that amount of money.
Not just me. Everyone does it. Don’t say you don‘t, you do.
Something strange about gas prices.
I promised too soon.
The SC-Arkansas game, I just discovered, is on CBS. They lied to me all week.
Now, I’m committed to Spartanburg.
I won’t disappoint her, since she is all primed to go.
Besides, do I really want to see the Gamecocks lose to the Hogs?
Yes, but that’s the way it is.
😥
I won’t tell her about this.
The game is replayed at least twice next week on SportsSouth network. SpoSouth rebroadcast SEC and ACC games in this area during the week.
I’ll have a chance to see the action.
😦 Dodgers (barely) lost. But what a game that was last night (I was following it online), extra innings.
🙂 Gas is kind of going down here, now in the $3.80-$3.90 range. Sad, but I’m grateful anytime it’s under $4.00 a gallon anymore. 😦 😦 Maybe I should fill up in South Carolina from now on. Oh wait. That’s a dumb idea, isn’t it? It’s too early for me.
🙂 Dishwasher is running, all the hand-wash-only dishes are washed/dried and put away. Made some bacon and eggs for breakfast.
🙂 A few of the guys from the group my husband jams with opened for the MN bluegrass group, Monroe Crossing. They are a great group and very gracious. The groups did a couple of gospel songs together at the end. A storm rolled through and just before the show was to begin the power went out. The groups played acoustically with candles and flashlights. It was a great show with a great audience that was so responsive and appreciative. Audiences vary and can make all the difference in a show. The electricity did come back on just when MC was announcing the last few numbers and someone was telling those with health problems that they would be helped down the steps. Perfect timing for those who had to leave and for the band to sell some cds etc.
😦 Grandson broke his arm. It will be in a cast about four weeks.
🙂 Such beautiful weather to rake leaves and enjoy the foliage.
🙂 My whole family will by home for Thanksgiving – we’re having ham instead of turkey as hubby told me (after 29 years of marriage) that he doesn’t really like turkey
:)Windows arrived yesterday – just in time for son to help install, without an extra trip for him
:)Nice weather today for the installation
🙂 I have so very much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
🙂 Anniversary books are finished and shipped and (according to tracking) should arrive Tuesday, a week early.
🙂 Working on a book of butterflies and flowers.
🙂 I counted species of butterflies I have seen in my backyard here–at least 15, of which I have photographed 14 and identified 13. I have also photographed (and mostly identified) seven species in the Smoky Mountains. (In both the backyard and the Smokies, a skipper species remains unidentified; they are so small and there are so many similar species that mostly I don’t bother trying to narrow them down, though I have identified the silver-spotted skipper.)
After 🙂 a nice break off work (most of August and most of September), 🙂 I have a small workload (two projects), with more probably coming in soon.
😦 Somewhere in here I really do have to tidy my house.
Kare2012: My husband recently told me something he doesn’t like after fifteen years of marriage–I have no idea why he waited that long to speak up! Men are definitely from Mars! 🙂
🙂 Sister made it safely to Nairobi.
🙂 I’ve found four schools with openings as possibilities for Becca. I have plans to visit them all next week. I’ve already ruled out four others.
🙂 Hubby has agreed Becca can attend private school as soon as I find one. Hooray!!!
😦 Becca has been diagnosed with a visual processing disorder which will require twice weekly therapy to correct.
🙂 So glad the problem is correctable and that we discovered it in time (it’s very difficult to correct after age 10).
🙂 Found a tutor to work with Becca. I believe he was sent to us from God as he has the patience of Job and is one of the nicest human beings I’ve ever met! He’s been working with Becca for about a month. She runs to the door to greet him and leads him to the kitchen table, holding his hand and skipping the whole way. She makes pictures for him and asks when he can come back. This is remarkable as she is usually very resistant about school work.
🙂 Took my car to Pep Boys and got the left tail light bulb replaced. One of the guys from the dog park was following me out last week and told me it was out. But when I ran into my mechanic this week at a community meeting, he wanted me to leave the car for the whole day (since this is the 2nd light that’s gone out in the past month) so they could do a full check of all the lights. I appreciate their thoroughness. But I had something a lot simpler in mind — like 20 minutes at Pep Boys to replace the dang bulb. 🙂
🙂 I paid $ 3.129 for gasoline in Landrum, SC. I saved $3.86 by not buying gas in NC.
Elvera had a nice time shopping and bought some things. She told me what, but I forgot. I listened to the game through headphones. Outside, there is no signal inside the mall.
😦 I forgot that I was going to SC and wore a long sleeve shirt. It was hot there.
🙂 Gamecocks won.
😦 Just got off the phone with a distant relative from VA (now in Fla) who’s doing deep ancestor research — someone told him I was some sort of expert on the one side of the family, which I’m not where near … But I do have “stuff” — letters, old photographs, etc. — so I may arrange to send them to him on loan. I guess I just felt so superficial in the conversation, he kept asking me these in-depth research questions and I barely have a grasp of the generation beyond my grandparents’! Oy.
Spartanburg is a nice town. I was born there, lived there a couple of years when I was in the 3rd &4th grade, and moved back there for a couple of years in 1962. But there’s no reason a tourist would want to go there. Cowpens battlefield, one of the major defeats of the British, is near there.
The center square in town is named “Morgan Square” for the general who led in that battle.
Kings Mountain, where the “overmountain men” defeated the British is also nearby.
Those two battles don’t get the credit they diserve. Cornwallis lost his army in the south.
🙂 Today we sang Holy, Holy, Holy — acapela. We sounded good!
🙂 Stocked up on veggies for the week’s lunches — Does anyone use one of those vacuum food saver machines? Honestly, it’s always such a challenge for me when it comes to fresh produce and trying to eat it all fast enough.
😦 Missed a text from a friend who apparently was driving somewhere near me when I was stopped at a stoplight coming home from church — asking if I wanted to have lunch. But my phone was still turned off from church so I didn’t get it until an hour later after I did all my shopping (also had to stock up on dog food since my brand was on sale at Petco).
Donna, as another single, I know what you mean. I only go to market once a week. I started having avocado, green peppers, cucumber, and tomatoes with my lunch. That was the only way to make sure I wouldn’t end up throwing all the rotten stuff away.
🙂 Ham, potatoes au gratin, green beans with bacon, carrots, sweet potatoes, coleslaw, garlic bread, pistachio salad. I think we’ll wait and have dessert later.
okay Miss Anonymous who is on a wonderful trip, I had to read through all the posts above and figure out that you were speaking to Donna about her ancestors. Good advice.
;-( I went all day yesterday without mentioning that it was Chuck’s birthday.
🙂 Elvera’s baby is 55! A senior citizen.
😦 He had to work 12 hours yesterday. Something happening at the plant, he didn’t say what.
🙂 It’s Saturday!
