  1. Turns out, today is free flights for children from about ten to seventeen. They have eight planes flying so all of the bigger children will be up at the same time. The one who wants to go to flight school is getting special treatment from what I hear, capture that spark. Guess I better get out on the deck and watch for planes. We can hear them.

  2. That was fun. It will be interesting to hear their stories. A plane came straight up from the canyon, dipped its wings at us, then circled the house before heading down into the canyon. I guess that was some of them.

  3. So cool, Mumsee!
🙂 I just picked the biggest carrots that I have ever grown.

🙂 God’s bounty from our garden despite not being able to amend the soil (yet), weed it (much) or water it. The peas have gotten a second wind and are again loaded with pea pods!

🙂 Hubby is again qualified to do his job (annual re-certification)

🙂 Toddler room again for me tomorrow during the service

😦 Changes at my work, hopefully everything works out for my co-workers.

  4. 😦 The rains have caused so much damage.
😦 Food and money supplies are running low, as everyone waits for the harvest.
😦 So many requests for help, but can’t help everyone. 😦

  5. 😦 Sorry about yesterday Karen, but so glad today’s better!

🙂 Got to cat sit for my neighbors next door who made a big point of telling me I was welcome to hang out there — or even sleep over — due to the heat. They have a/c that they keep running for the cat. 🙂 So today I played Goldilocks and hung out reading on the extra sofa in their back family room/kitchen. Soooo wonderful.

😦 The cat decided he needed to lay on top of me. His butt in my face. 🙂 Cats. Such respect for their humans. But I didn’t care. Ahhhh, that cool air …. I snapped a shot of his furry butt in my face w/my phone and texted it to the owners. They’re returning tomorrow so no more Goldilocks for me. 😦 They’ve been in the desert where apparently it’s been cooler than where we are. 😦

🙂 It’s *supposed* to start cooling off tomorrow (it’s a good 20 degrees above normal for us right now). But I’ll believe it when I see it. I remember a similar heat event last year around the same time — they kept saying it was about to break but it never did. It lasted a good 3 weeks. My car temp actually read 113 degrees when I first got into it this afternoon — but it had been sitting in the hot sun on a concrete driveway all day, so it had absorbed all of that data. After I drove a few blocks, it settled on 95. Thankful for car a/c. Still really uncomfortable, though it was only in the high 70s just about 2 miles south of me at the southern ocean cliffs. Go figure.

  6. 🙂 I think it’s cooling down. It’s all the way ‘down’ to 83 inside my house at 10 p.m.! Awesome. If the nights could just cool off, it would be so much better.

🙂 Watched Argo on TV tonight. Anyone here see that in the theater last year? I think my cousin and I were going to see it but she wound up going without me somehow.

😦 I still can’t get over the fact that Alan Arkin was the old guy. I saw his name in the closing credits and couldn’t figure out which character he was. When I realized he was the ‘old’ producer, well, let’s just say it was a reality check. 😮

  7. Argo is on my list to see. Missed it last fall. Hoping that someone here will have it. Since I only watch about 2 movies a year it takes me a while

  8. 🙂 L.’s performance in the horse show. It was so wonderful to see the joy on her face throughout the show!

🙂 Sister made it safely back from Africa. Plans to see her later in the month!!!!

🙂 Niece doing well at college.

🙂 L.’s 14th birthday is this Thursday. I can still remember the car ride home from the hospital with her, both of us so anxious something might happen to her on the freeway that Hubby drove about 45 mph the entire way.

    😦 Family-of-origin issues.

  9. Wow, the prayer thread is over twice as long as rants and raves. That is unusual. But everyone is talking and it is fun to read and join in. 🙂
