What’s interesting out there today?

The US is about ready to begin military action in Syria. By Presidential decree, not by the authorization of Congress I might add. Remember when that was a bad thing? 6 years ago Joe Biden thought such an action was an impeachable offense, now he’s cheerleading for it.

Here’s a blast from the not too distant past.

From WeaselZippers  “Presidential hopeful Delaware Sen. Joe Biden stated unequivocally that he will move to impeach President Bush if he bombs Iran without first gaining congressional approval.

Biden spoke in front of a crowd of approximately 100 at a candidate forum held Thursday at Seacoast Media Group. The forum focused on the Iraq war and foreign policy. When an audience member expressed fear of a war with Iran, Biden said he does not typically engage in threats, but had no qualms about issuing a direct warning to the Oval Office.

“The president has no authority to unilaterally attack Iran, and if he does, as Foreign Relations Committee chairman, I will move to impeach,” said Biden, whose words were followed by a raucous applause from the local audience.”

I guess that’s only necessary if your name is George Bush.

This one points out the obvious, and the part the Obama admin keeps ignoring.

From TheIndependent  “If Barack Obama decides to attack the Syrian regime, he has ensured – for the very first time in history – that the United States will be on the same side as al-Qa’ida.”

“The men who destroyed so many thousands on 9/11 will then be fighting alongside the very nation whose innocents they so cruelly murdered almost exactly 12 years ago. Quite an achievement for Obama, Cameron, Hollande and the rest of the miniature warlords.

This, of course, will not be trumpeted by the Pentagon or the White House – nor, I suppose, by al-Qa’ida – though they are both trying to destroy Bashar. So are the Nusra front, one of al-Qa’ida’s affiliates. But it does raise some interesting possibilities.”

“There will be some ironies, of course. While the Americans drone al-Qa’ida to death in Yemen and Pakistan – along, of course, with the usual flock of civilians – they will be giving them, with the help of Messrs Cameron, Hollande and the other Little General-politicians, material assistance in Syria by hitting al-Qa’ida’s enemies. Indeed, you can bet your bottom dollar that the one target the Americans will not strike in Syria will be al-Qa’ida or the Nusra front.”

This is a really bad idea.

Iran is threatening Syrian attacks on Israel if the US attacks Syria.

From TheFreeBeacon A senior Iranian lawmaker said Israel would be the first casualty of any U.S.-led strike on Syria, according to regional media reports.

Hossein Sheikholeslam, the director general of the Iranian parliament’s International Affairs bureau, claimed the United States would not dare attack Syria but said that if it does, “the Zionist regime will be the first victim.”

“No military attack will be waged against Syria,” Sheikholeslam was quoted as saying on Monday by Iran’s state run Fars News Agency.

“Yet, if such an incident takes place, which is impossible, the Zionist regime will be the first victim of a military attack on Syria,” Sheikholeslam said in an apparent response to the Obama administration’s increasingly stern rhetoric against Syria.”

Meanwhile Russia says the US is acting like a monkey with a hand grenade, which I’m pretty sure is as a racist statement. After all, that’s the only reason anyone ever criticizes the President. 🙄

And here’s a fun read on the influence of the MB in the Obama admin.

From CBN  “The Muslim Brotherhood appears on the ropes in Egypt following a military crackdown on the radical movement. Here in the United States, however, one American-Islamic group linked to the Brotherhood continues to thrive.”

“Magid has reportedly become a trusted administration advisor on issues ranging from immigration to counterterrorism policy.

White House officials have praised Magid’s organization, ISNA, as a pillar of the American-Muslim community.”

“”The remarkable thing is, many of these founders, who’ve been implicated in terrorism cases, named as unindicted co-conspirators in terrorism cases, are now consulting with the Obama administration,” investigative journalist Patrick Poole explained.”

It also explains why our foreign policy decisions continue to benefit radicals. First in Libya, then Egypt, and now Syria.

Next up, California goes after tax exemptions for certain groups. Some don’t surprise me because liberals hate these groups. But little league baseball too? Buncha commies….

From TheWashingtonTimes   “A California bill that could strip tax-exempt status from Little  League, the Boy Scouts of America and other “discriminatory” nonprofit  youth-serving groups could come up for a final vote this week.”

“But opponents are taking heart that there might not be enough votes in the state  Assembly to pass the bill.”

The bill, introduced by State Sen. Ricardo  Lara, names the Boy Scouts, Little  League, Future Farmers of America and 19 other organizations as examples of  groups that could be stripped of their tax-exempt status if found to  discriminate based on gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, race,  religion or religious affiliation.

The measure also threatens tax-exempt status for public and private schools found to  sponsor discriminatory youth groups. One critic said it could even threaten an  exemption status held by a church.”

And of course NY doesn’t want to be outdone, so they have similar proposals in the works.

But that’s not the worst story out of Cali. today. 😦

From LA-CBSLocal  “Nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physician assistants could perform a type of early abortion under a bill approved Monday by the state Senate, leaving the measure one step from the governor.

The measure by Assemblywoman Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, would let those medical professionals perform what are known as aspiration abortions during the first trimester. The method involves inserting a tube and using suction to terminate a pregnancy.”

“Several Republicans objected to the expansion, saying it would increase medical risks for patients.

“Abortion is a serious medical procedure with vast complications, and I would argue that only the best-trained should conduct such an operation,” said Sen. Jim Nielsen, R-Gerber. “It has direct and profound impact on lives: the mother and the baby — and there is a baby.”

Here’s another abortion related story.

From NationalReview  “This week, the Pew Research Center released the results of a survey on the morality of abortion. The results indicated that 49 percent of Americans found abortion to be immoral. Only 15 percent found abortion morally acceptable and 23 percent felt it was not a moral issue. Religion was a strong predictor of abortion attitudes. White Evangelicals were the religious group most opposed to abortion — with 75 percent indicating they found abortion immoral. Catholics were also statistically more likely to consider abortion immoral. This is in contrast to past surveys which indicated that Catholic views on abortion are very similar to those of the broader population.

However, as many political professionals and researchers know, church attendance is a far better predictor of abortion attitudes than religious beliefs. Seventy percent of those who attend religious services once a week were inclined to say abortion is immoral. Within religious groups there were significant differences in attitudes between frequent and infrequent church attendees. For instance, 74 percent of white Catholics who attend Mass at least once a week consider abortion morally wrong. This is compared with 40 percent of white Catholics who attend Mass less often.”

This one? And they wonder why people think the media leans left. This is a perfect example. Conservatives and traditionalists will call him what he is, a male, despite what he wants. His feelings don’t override reality and common sense. Well, unless you lean left.

From USNews The convicted WikiLeaks source previously known as Pfc. Bradley Manning should “henceforth” be referred as Chelsea Manning with feminine pronouns, “in accordance with her wishes to live as a woman,” The Associated Press announced Monday evening.

The decision comes less than a week after Manning’s Aug. 22 gender identity announcement in a statement to NBC’s “Today” show. ” I want everyone to know the real me,” the statement said. “I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female.”

The initial AP story on Manning’s announcement used neither feminine or masculine pronouns in the body of the article and used “he” in the headline. The male pronoun has since been removed.”

I’m just gonna say it. This is stupid and the media’s constant pandering to sexual deviants is disgusting.

  1. I always liked Joe Biden. When I listen to him in the primary debates in 07, he impressed me more than Obama or Clinton. He seemed to have a better grasp of working class and middle class reality than most politicians. Its interesting that the few times Biden is mentioned in the book “Dirty Wars” he is portrayed as the voice of moderation and caution. And I wouldn’t doubt that publicly he may play the role of loyal VP but in private he’s probably trying to apply the brakes. Sorta of the anti-Cheney.

I came here to give you the link to the Independent article but you beat me to it. However, you should realize the writer Robert Fisk is extremely pro-Arab and further to the left than me. However, he does know his stuff as he has been reporting from the middle east since 1976 and lives in Beirut.

Russia’s comment about a monkey with a grenade was intentional. Russians have little respect for American intelligence but if they were discussing Bush they would not have compared him to a monkey, they probably would have said the village idiot is playing with the grenade. Blatant racism is the norm in Eastern Europe and I don’t doubt that Putin and others have less respect for Obama based on his skin color.

If an organization discriminates it should lose its charitable status. Break the law face the consequences even if you are the Little League. I’m actually surprised the Little League doesn’t have a non-discriminatory clause in their policy. Its the norm here.

Abortion is a medical procedure. I had to wait 30 mins for a doctor so my daughter could have two stitches, apparently a nurse wasn’t qualified. I would like to think if my daughter needed an abortion there would be a doctor not a nurse. I can see the logic of using a midwife but still I would think a “routine” abortion is more complicated than a “routine” childlbirth

The press isn’t leftist rather its customary to use the name people prefer. Hence, its the person formerly known as Prince, Metta World Peace, and Mohammad Ali rather than their given names. If Bradley insists on Chelsea than so be it. Its neither left nor right.

So you are approving the death of your grandchild?

  3. I am glad I am no longer a public school teacher. California is going to experiment with allowing school children to choose which bathroom they would like to use. They will also be able to choose which locker room to change in and which sports team the would like to play on. Gender is all in their head you know.

  4. drives guy — no, i don’t approved the death of my grandchild. When I have a grandchild I’ll help make sure my daughter takes good care of her/him. And I will continue to advocate for pro child policies like free health care and education. However, I will also advocate for excellent health care for young women. And abortions provided by nurses smell like a cost saving measure at the expense of women’s health.

bob — I somehow doubt this will lead to a free for all. There’s enough homophobia and transphobia in the public school system that most students will stick to their own gender washrooms.

  5. When we lived in Monterey 25 years ago, abortions were done on Saturday mornings at the hospital by a group of podiatrists who came down from San Francisco to perform them. We never understood how that would make a woman feel safe about having an abortion.

But, at least they were done in a hospital.
