Prayer Requests 8-21-13

Who has a request or praise to share today?

And it’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Gambia. 🙂

Psalm 11

1 In the Lord I put my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

  1. Prayers requested for patience for myself today as I have to take the girls back to school shopping today and the mall is one of my least favorite places. The older I get the more the flourescent lights, noise and crowds bother me. My girls are both excited about it, so please pray I wouldn’t be a wet blanket on their enthusiasm.

Also, oldest daughter asked to bring a friend with her, which seemed reasonable to me. Unfortunately, I’m sort of wary of this friend — she seems a little “fast” compared to my daughter. She has older siblings who are pretty wild and I think that’s impacted her. Please pray that if this girls is going to be a bad influence on my child that the relationship would fizzle out before anything negative happens. Additionally, please pray for a hedge of protection around this kid as she seems to need it.

Praise report: Eldest is thoroughly enjoying the horse we recently leased (Simba). She’s riding daily and Simba already nickers when he sees her approaching. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for providing this horse for her in his perfect timing.

  2. One more request: My sister and her family are scheduled to return to Africa on the 25th. Their eldest daughter (HG) was supposed to go to Mary Hardin Baylor University yesterday for her freshman year. She had a meltdown and basically refused to go. She has some mental health issues that have not been addressed and I am worried about her. Prayers for HG and her parents would be greatly appreciated.

  4. ANNMS… You guys all prayed me through back to school shopping with BG. It is the least I can do for you. 😉

Linda, I firmly believe there is going to be a speciall place in heaven for hospice workers. They will guide the family through this.

I know that my Daddy J is dying. He has had a good, long life. My prayers are for peace and harmony in his family as this happens.

  5. A little funny “hospice” story – when my Dad died in January my sister, brother, and I met with a wonderful hospice lady. After the meeting, she called me aside and asked if I was the oldest, which I am. She said that even though the other two look older, she thought I was just based on my demeanor during the meeting. I thought that was pretty astute. I got a kick out of telling the others this – especially the part about them looking older.

  6. We are trying something new this year. We are putting our nearly six year old in public school. She is surrounded on a daily basis by atypical people, and that is good, but there are no typical people in her life. We are going to give her some time around public school children to help round her out. Weird, I know. But, in attempt to help her realize that just because her brothers or sister do something (eating rocks for example) does not make it necessary for her to do so. Of course, I have just noticed her following in this since Mike was removed. I tell you, this is really hard on these children. Prayers please.

  7. Heavenly Father,

You are the One the whole world revolves around, only many here do not realize or acknowledge that fact. You are the greatest as You cover Your children in protection and teach them right from wrong and let Jesus draw them back if they get off course. I praise You for being active in our lives. Many drops of rain have fallen in Atlanta lately. The number of Your blessings far outnumber the raindrops if we could count them.

Lord, please give much assistance this day to the missionaries at work in The Gambia. Keep them safe and healthy. I ask that You would keep evil far, far away from them. Please make a joyful path of righteousness for their routine patterns of footsteps. May they be a substantial witness for Jesus on a daily basis. Give them peace of mind in feeling Your constant presence.

Lord, I ask alongside others here for a major resolving blessing to be given to the Nest. You see the sufferings on all sides. Please bring a quick remedy. I ask that You give supernatural stamina to Mumsee and patience and increasing faith to Mike . May the children be given some special blessings that could only come from You during this time of felt loss. Thank You for Your blessed resolution and gifting of needed blessings
Please, Lord, be near to Jo and Linda’s friend who is in transition from life to death to life. She is going to her eternal home while others are left behind. Comfort those who feel hurt by her leaving. Please bring in Christan influences to encourage the children to place their love and faith in Jesus.

Please, Lord, help Annms with this shopping activity. Give her a new vision of what You want her to do to help her girls make wise choices in the face of peer pressure. Thank You for the sweet provision of the horse which gives a fine way of teaching responsibilities.

Thank You over and over for Your multitude of good answers to prsyer.Thank You for often giving more than we can think or imagine to ask for. You are such a loving and merciful Father God, our Abba. Ipray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  8. I have a small praise – but only physically small – it is great in every other way. I have another niece! All are healthy and well according to my informant. This is a first child for this sibling, who got married just three weeks before I came here.

  9. Thanks to all who prayed, shopping was relatively painless. We have to go back on Friday for a few more things, but we made a lot of progress.

Roscuro: Congratulations on the birth of your niece!

Mumsee: Hope 6 year old’s first day in school goes well. Our girls are in public school and there are some positive things about it, like knowing the kids in the neighborhood. Prayers continue…
