Prayer Requests 8-16-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 4

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

  1. This is a very special psalm to me that God Himself gave to me at a very hard time. I claimed verse 7, but changed it to Thou will put gladness in my heart – as I knew He would though there was no gladness at that time

  2. As I have told you before, there was a special family who opened their home to the teenage daughter of an alcoholic. The took me on vacation with them and gave me a key to their home. When I felt the need to run away from home I went to their house. My dad always knew I was safe there.

Daddy J has been in the hospital since the first of July. I got the call about him when I was at Mumsee’s. He was in ICU and non responsive. He woke up this past Saturday and has been able to visit with family. They have found cancer but it is contained in his lymph nodes. I talked to his daughter Wednesday and things were looking somewhat brighter. I just got a message that someone had announced at a meeting that he would not make it.

He is 81 years old and knows his Savior. He has been a good man with a good life. Thy will be done. Just please, Lord, make it peaceful.

  3. Kim: Prayers for you and Daddy J.

Prayers requested for safe travels as we’re going to a friend’s beach house this evening. We were going to leave at noon today, but Hubby got picked for jury duty Wednesday, so now we will be playing in traffic most of the way. 😦
I’m not super fond of these people, but Hubby works with them and is friends with the guy and Becca loves the beach, so it should be okay. Elder daughter has decided to stay home with Connie (she was going to be staying at our home to take care of our dog, anyway) as she doesn’t like their 13 year old son at all and feels uncomfortable around him. They also have a 16 yr. old daughter who is pretty wild, so I’m relieved she won’t be around her influence.
