  1. Remember, you don’t actualy have to give birth to someone to provide a mothering influence to them. I get motherly advice from lots of women here. So Happy Mother’s day to them.

What did I get? A very sweet card, a book about Duck Dynasty, and a Team Jase T Shirt. I also got the two new beach chairs I asked for.

  2. So, far i got a piece of paper cut into the word, “MOM”. But Hubby will be home tonight and says I get tomorrow off. 🙂 That means I have to catch up on the laundry today.

  3. Thank you for the beautiful greetings today, AJ! Wish Cheryl a Happy Mother’s Day for me, too. 🙂

You all have blessed me in my motherhood journey in ways I can’t begin to explain. Thank you so much…you are a blessing to me. 🙂

  4. And Happy Mother’s Day to you all, as well. The day started with going out to the deck for a time in the Word with the Word while all creation sang of His Glory. Then off to feed the baby turkeys and chickens and letting them out of their little place into the big area. They are fun to watch as they leap around testing their wings.
Now I am home nearly alone with just the two youngest as husband took all of the others (well, two are away helping some folk), to prepare the Mother’s Day feast for church. The men are doing Dutch Oven cooking and the children have all been assigned their pots. One is doing lasagna, another meatloaf, another is making rhubarb blackberry crisp and so on. They should have a wonderful time, and I will have a quiet time.
    Every day is Mother’s Day.

  5. Today, rather than Prayers of the People, the priest knelt and said a prayer for expectant mothers, mothers who lost children, mothers who gave their children up for adoption, for mothers who were young, mothers who were old, mothers who were sick or had dementia, mothers who had children that were noth with them, and for women who wanted to be mothers but for whatever reason were not.

Donna? Did any of that sound familiar? 😉

  6. Yep. 🙂

Part of our corporate prayer today also reminded us that we are all complete in Him, whatever may be the particular vocation to which we have been called or whatever part of the body we are; mothers or not mothers, struggling/grieving/frustrated mothers … all of us are covered and fulfilled in Christ alone.

As for the sermon, we were back in Romans — 5:3-6 (I think those were the verses), about how trials and tribulation grow our character.

  7. We were back in Act. Paul and Silas were in prison. The sermon was on Family. Whether you are the black sheep or not. How awesome was it that God brought whole families to Him Lydia’s family, the family of the Prison Guard. It was on the Head of the Household and what it took to bring your family to God.

  8. No church for me today. It would take 2 hours of driving out of time spent with our son, so we chose to stay home and spend time with him. He has now left for the 6 hour drive home, but it was good to see him and to see that he is really going to be okay. My dear daughter brought home flowers for me earlier in the week and hubby actually gave me a card!

  9. Our pastor gave an invitation for anyone who wanted to say something about their mother. Several spoke. One, who is probably in her late thirties or forties talked about growing about poor and seeing her mother wash dishes with snow.

A friend talked about both her mom and MIL. Her MIL is a best friend of mine. The young woman talked about what a blessing her MIL was and how she would have had a hard time making it through the death of her husband (my friends son). I think just about everyone was in tears after all the stories.

I am so grateful to have daughters who love the Lord and work to be good mothers. They are not anymore perfect than I was, but they do their best and then some. What a blessing!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers.

  10. A most blessed Mother’s Day to you all……I believe we all as women have been touched by the life of a child…the nurturing and maternal emotions hit us all…I felt it before I had children…my heart still flutters when a little one smiles at me…or like today at church…the little guy in front of me waving at me during prayer…thank you Lord for your gift of children….
And two of my girls have given me flowers…we are on our way over to the other daughter’s home to have coffee…and the son…well…he actually posted some old photo’s of us on his FB page…and thanked me for giving birth to all 10 pounds of him and surviving raising him…ok…it’s a good Mother’s Day…yep…it’s good 🙂
