Prayer Requests 4-18-13

Who can we pray for today?

Or if you prefer, share an update or praise.

Psalm 146

1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.

2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:

6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:

8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:

9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Thank you to all who have and who continue to pray. To those who have emailed me encouragement or sent me a messaga through FB…Thank you. You don’t know what it means to me and to help me realiize I am not a nominee for Joan Crawford Mother of the Year quite yet.

  2. Please pray that I would make some progress today–particularly in the listening and following God arena?

Fear sparking and paralyzingly coupled with nibbling discouragement.

A symptom of the times, I would say.

  3. 6 arrows, thank you for your prayers and your response yesterday.

Please pray for me today as I talk to my boss about how she has been treating her front end staff. Also, I’m trying to decide if this means I should retire. I’ve gone from absolutely loving my job to detesting it in one short week, with no end to what’s going on in sight,

  4. Kare, I’m praying for you, but one short week is too soon to decide that you detest your job. I was that way for several months in my career. Things improved greatly.

  5. Pray as I try to get a “second wind” of enthusiasm and energy (and inspiration) for wherever my writing might be able to take me in my spare time and for some additional/future income.

I’m feeling stuck, paralyzed, in that state of just wanting to escape & pull the covers over my head as soon as the workday is done.

  6. well, you could come here and help guard the farmlette. No word from the angry folk yet, that could be good and could be not so good.

  7. Mumsee, I know Idaho Mike is former military, so he knows all this, but anyhow; if I felt a real threat, I would take precautions with motion detector lights and cameras, and some guns.
I know, that’s expensive. Be careful of strange objects and booby traps. It’s hard to teach kids that.
    I’m praying every day.

  8. DesignerGirl (for those who remember when she used to post on WMB) aka my daughter just heard her husband lost his job. He teaches and was already down to a .6 position, but was assured he would be back up to full-time next year. Now they have decided to cut the Consumer and Life Sciences program that he developed. Since his job is where they get their insurance through, this is one of their main concerns. He is taking classes for a school counseling degree, but has a way to go. I know they would appreciate prayers for their situation. He works for a charter school, which means he has no tenure in spite of teaching for several years.

  9. So sorry to hear about your son-in-law’s job loss, Kathaleena. As far as your daughter and SIL’s insurance, perhaps they might want to consider a health-sharing ministry as an alternative to health insurance. My husband and I are in the process of looking into Samaritan Ministries at http://samaritanministries.org/

Friends of ours who have been involved with this ministry for many years sat down with us recently to show us how it works. They’ve got very good things to say about their experience with the ministry, and my husband and I are very close to deciding to go this route, I think. And one obvious advantage is that a medical-needs sharing program such as this is not tied to employment, where if there is job loss, then there is not also insurance loss at the same time.

    I’ll be praying for them.
