Prayer Requests 2-19-13

Who can we pray for today?

Or post an update or praise, if you prefer. 🙂

Psalm 130

1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.

2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?

4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.

6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

7 Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

  1. Please pray for me as I continue to witness to the young lady Eva, who is Mormon. She posted her email today on the blog in which we had been carrying on our conversation. I am pleased that she is interested in furthering our discussion, and was comfortable enough that she would invite me to email her.

Pray that the Lord will use me to accomplish His purposes, that the Holy Spirit will lead Eva into all truth, and that I will keep a healthy balance between ministering to my family, becoming more knowledgeable about Mormonism, and sharpening my witnessing skills as I share my faith with Eva. Thank you.

  2. Yes, Mumsee, very definitely she’s trying. I’m just glad I haven’t beaten her over the head with the errors in her thinking, turning her off to wanting to engage in further dialogue. I’ve never witnessed long-term to anyone, and not to any Mormon even once except for Eva. So this is new territory for me, and I don’t want to come on too strong too fast. I’d rather build a relationship first (and have to a certain extent), but I can be rather impatient with myself, trying to determine what to address, when, and how. What’s that verse about the Spirit giving us the words when we need them? I know Romans 8:26 says that the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us when we know not how to pray, but isn’t there also a verse about the Spirit giving us the words to speak (or write, in this case) when we don’t know what to say to a person?

I need the wisdom that comes from God above, and patience.

  3. More about what believers are to say in the face of authorities who oppose them and bring them before the rulers, but Luke 12:11-12: “do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself, or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”
