Prayer Requests 1-31-13

What would you like prayer for today?

Psalm 8

1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

  1. Prayers while at the county library reading this. Limited time. May recovery be without complication. May outcome be pleasing to the doctors and parents and all who are praying. IJN, Amen

  2. Please pray for me. I have to finish a proposal today that has been requested by an editor. I’ve come up with the entire story since 6:15 this morning. I’ve written the first chapter, but am a little bogged down by the amount of information I’ve got to get into a 90K word story–that encompasses the first World War.

    In addition, I’ve just gotten word another publisher wants to see, for a second time, my memoir, Loving God Without a Label. His words: “it was almost ready when I saw it two years ago. Has she done any work on it since?”

    Have I? I will by the end of the weekend.

    My heart is racing. This is thrilling and a writer’s dream. It’s also a TON of work, particularly with my little Bridging Two Hearts book launching on Tuesday!

    Oh, and a friend moves in tomorrow. And I have a trip to LA on Wednesday.
    I’m not complaining; I’m thankful. I’m just a little stressed . . . and so glad my prayer partner and I met and prayed this morning!

    Thank you.

  4. I have about decided we really might have the flu. The two youngest and I continue to fight fever and achiness. The third youngest is running a close second. They and I spend a lot of time snuggling and passing germs, so it makes sense. Anyway, prayer for resolution of whatever it is we have. Thanks. This has been going on quite long enough.

  5. I have never understood the point of prayer. God decides in mysterious way. Sometimes a person heals or is saved from danger. Sometimes a person is harmed or dies. Presumably, he or she then goes to a wonderful place called Heaven or to a terrible place called Hell. As nobody has the slightest empirical evidence such places exist, it’s fairly logical to regard prayer as pointless.

    However, our chickens cluck at each other all the time. I translate their clucks as “I’m a chicken. I am not a racoon or a hawk. I will keep you company and I will not eat you.” I presume prayer as, “I am a Christian. I will not kill you. I may help you. I will keep you company.” Have an earthworm. My chickens tell me they are delicious.
