Prayer Requests 12-22-12

Hello everyone.

What can we pray about today?

And if you would be so kind as to remember those who are unable to be home with loved ones , because of work or ministries this Christmas. Many will miss out on the celebrations because of work responsibilities. Also, we all know some who are in other states, even foreign lands, working to serve others this holiday. Let’s keep them in prayer.

Thanks all.

🙂

  1. 6 Arrows, how’s your dad?

    Good reminder, AJ.

I also saw where a FB friend had a good idea this year — she went to a kmart wanting to pay off someone’s lay-away (she specifically asked for someone who had children’s things and clothes on layaway, not a big-screen TV or other non-essential item).

The store matched her up with someone and the bill was paid in full.

When they called the woman to tell her she could come get all her things, her bill was all paid, she cried she was so happy.

  2. Continued prayer appreciated for our work situation. It’s been a very tough year, our staff is at an all time low. Not just in terms of morale, but also in that we have only a handful of staffers even left at this point.

Everyone feels quite overwhelmed and unappreciated by the many new big company VPs they seem to be hiring every week or so to “manage” us, instituting some really burdensome layers of bureaucracy along with additional hours (including Sundays, extreme early/late shifts, etc.) for mid-management who receive no overtime for that, of course.

We sometimes have no idea who our bosses even are anymore let alone the (confused) “vision” that they seem to be trying to get us all on board with. 😦 There have been no staff raises in years, only pay cuts. And in the midst of all this, some of my colleagues also are struggling with personal problems: divorce, financial crises, etc.

I especially need prayer for my attitude — prayer that I will focus on being grateful for the work (and regular paycheck) that I do still have (and for the most part still enjoy); prayer that I will not join in on the complaining so much. 😦 The atmosphere is just very depressing right now.

For those of us who were around to catch at least some of the newspaper’s booming heyday (1980s & early 1990s), this is just a very, very hard period to get through.

  3. Thanks for asking about my dad, Donna. He was released from the hospital this morning, PTL. 🙂 He was given a prescription to take for his irregular heartbeat, and his doctor also said he should take aspirin. When he got the prescription filled, though, the pharmacist said not to take aspirin with that medication. I’m glad to hear that Dad decided he wouldn’t take the aspirin, then. He had been in a quandary when the pharmacist told him that, because “The doctor said…”. A pharmacist, IMO, is much more knowledgeable about drug interactions and so on than most doctors probably are.

I’m praying for you, also, with your job situation. I feel your pain (sort of) as I see my husband experiencing similar workplace issues. Morale is low at hubby’s workplace, too. One of his crewmen (who will not have a job in January) just stopped showing up to work this past week. 😦

  4. Glad your dad is feeling better, 6 Arrows.

I understand about the uncertainty you & your husband (& you, too, Donna) are going through. We’ve walked that road a couple times or more in our years together. We’re glad Lee left Hostess months before it imploded, but he is now an independent operator, taking jobs at Bimbo (whose products include Arnold breads, Freihofer’s products, Entenmann’s products, Sara Lee, & Thomas’s English Muffins) as they come along.

I told him that we are “flying by the seat of our faith”. 🙂 May you all fly, too, beneath His wings.

Now I am off to bed early (for me), as I am sick, achy, & exhausted. But this shall pass; these things do.

  5. Please pray for safety for my husband as he ventures onto the roof today to unblock the vent stack. We’ve had a lot of fog and think perhaps it is iced up.

Prayer for all the work situations you all are facing. The uncertainty definitely weighs on one’s mind.
