Prayer for husband and the olders as they enjoy city life for a day and then travel back. And prayer for me. I was splitting a piece of wood to make kindling but selected a rather solid piece. When I hit it, a piece came off sideways and hit just below my knee. Hurt a lot at the time but not now. It is rather swollen and there will be a significant bruise. But I need to be able to carry on until the others get back. Thanks.
I don’t have details, but my sister left me a voice mail this morning; her husband was seriously injured (could be a permanent disability) and was on his way to the hospital. That’s really just about all I know, I don’t know what kind of injury it was or anything. But they have five children and he’s the breadwinner, so this is very serious.
Thanks, Mumsee. Finally talked with her, and it’s not anywhere near as serious as she (or we) feared. He is in a lot of pain and likely will need surgery, and it may (or may not) have lifelong ramifications, but not anything close to the level that it sounded like it might be.
Mumsee #7. Yes, they will get lots of publicity they don’t want.
And he is the dad’c child.
I said on another thread that I’m reading Killing Kennedy. I decided to look up Marina Oswald on Wicopedia to see what happened to her. (O’Rilly might tell, but I haven’t gotten that far.)
She remarried, became a US citizen in 1989, and appears to have had a good life.
The Oswald children appear to have done ok, but I didn’t search that.
It brought Marina Oswald to mind for me, too, Chas. I was a kid but I seem to remember there was some scorn she received following the assassination. I think Oswald’s “funeral” consisted of just her and their baby at the time, along with his mother? Can’t remember if they had more children or not.
But I do remember seeing a photograph of the tiny gathering at the graveside, and it made me feel sad for them, too.
Marina and Harvey had two. If I remember correctly, she had two more.
I don’t know what happened to them, I hope they had normal lives. They haven’t been in the spotlight, so I reckon everything is OK.
Posted this link on the daily thread too, but since we’re talking about family of those who carry out atrocities … (this one’s been making the rounds on FB, it’s a frightening glimpse into the life of a mom of a very troubled 13-year-old):
I think the obvious today is to pray for the students and families in Sandy Hook. I can’t even think of what to type next. I guess that is enough.

Thanks for #7, Mumsee, I often think how horrible it must be for the parents and families of these people as well. 😦 😦

And we should pray for our president as well as he’s meeting with family members now and will address the nation tonight.
