Prayer Requests 11-27-12

What should we pray about today?

Psalm 17:6-9

6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
    turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
7 Show me the wonders of your great love,
    you who save by your right hand
    those who take refuge in you from their foes.
8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
    hide me in the shadow of your wings
9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
    from my mortal enemies who surround me.

  1. Thank you to any who prayed for my friend, Jody, yesterday. Here is the report this morning: The surgery lasted about 7 hours and he was able to complete it totally with the da vinci Robot. (Much less invasive.) The “small” tumor was removed and the initial pathology reports indicate that the “margins” were clear.
    It appears that the cancer was contained and had not spread or metastasized to anywhere else.

  2. Thanks for the update, Lshaffer.

    I’d like to request prayers for my sister and her family. There is fighting in the Congo, across Lake Kivu. Unfortunately, Lake Kivu is in their backyard. Their compound has been attacked before and I’m worried about them.

  3. Hubby’s friend David’s tests revealed no cancer anywhere other than his neck, which they already knew about. In other words it has not spread. First good news for him in a while.

  4. The seventh acquaintance since July has lost a spouse.

    Which, combined with the other half dozen or so who have lost other family members, has made for a sober fall.

    I’m trying hard not to be superstitious, but, frankly, this has been very unsettling for me as I’ve been wrestling with death issues the last year or so.

    I don’t know what to pray, other than I remain focused on the Good News and the assurance that Jesus went to prepare a place for us–and if it were not so, He would have told us.

  5. My friend’s husband, Richie, is due to get out of the hospital today. They were finally able to pull out the infected picc line and didn’t dislodge any clots. Praise the Lord for many answers to prayer in that situation.

  6. Pray for two ladies, FS and HD. I was able to share the gospel very clearly with them this afternoon. It was one of those “God” opportunities as they were sitting in my house talking about how God keeps score of sins and makes you pay back. I listened for a while waiting for a chance to jump in with some truth. I got a great opportunity and was able to make them really think about what it meant to try to work your way to heaven. One of the Gambian Christians was also in my house at the time, so after the other ladies left, I was able to have a teaching moment with her. Then we prayed together for the salvation of the two ladies. Love it when God gives me opportunities like this!
