A few weeks ago I asked for prayer for a Wycliffe missionary (wife) who we support and who is also my DIL’s cousin-in-law. She is having surgery today and prayers are appreciated. I got this in an e-mail this morning:
It is a very long and complex surgery called the Whipple Procedure during which the head of the pancreas and the duodenum are removed, then the small intestine is reconnected to the stomach and the remaining part of the pancreas with the bile ducts are connected to the small intestine. (They may also remove lymph nodes and check other organs to make sure the cancer has not spread.
Right now they are optimistic that this has not happened).
Please pray for Dr John Martinie and the rest of the surgical team who will be using the da Vinci surgical robot to perform the surgery which will take from 4 to 6 hours. The “robot” allows them to do this surgery laparoscopically with several small incisions rather than a large one. It also allows them to do the surgery with more precision and less “trauma” to the body. Jody will be in the hospital from 5 to 7 days.

Fourth son asked me today if the illness that killed his brother and sister run in the family. Translation, “Am I going to die of it soon?” Please pray for peace of mind and trust in Him for son. Thanks.
