Prayer Requests 11-7-12

What should we pray about today?

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

  1. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving us the beautiful words of Scripture that always remind us of Your divine presence in this world. Where would we be without knowledge of You? As bad as many of us feel today about election results, without knowledge of You we would have that same kind of sinking feeling day in and day out. Thank You that instead we have the joy of the Lord.

Today I lift up to You for a blessing of wellness our friend Paula. Please let it be revealed what is causing her current illness. She has a lot of responsibilities and needs to be at her best for her family’s needs and for her employer. Bless her today with improving health.

Thank You, Lord, for the benefits You are adding to the marriage of 6 Arrows as she seeks to better follow in Your ways. May she and her husband be a solid bonding unit, totally commited to do their best in the raising of their special needs child. Please, Lord, give them strength and hope for the long haul so one day they can look back and say, “How did we manage to do that?” and they will be able to answer, “God did it.” You will receive beautiful glory from this story.

I pray for the needs of Donna’s friends, Norma from church, with cataract surgery coming later today, and Shirley who has received a surprise from a routine exam.
Please let that cataract surgery be performed without a hitch, so smoothly that it is over with before it feels like it has started. May the healing be quick, too, without any complications. May Norma rest easy, without anxiety, for she puts her trust in You. I pray for Shirley, too, to go forward with the testing that must be done, resting in Your peace over her situation for she knows You are fully in control and You care for her. Please let her have a special sign from You, just some little something, that will remind her of Your presence throughout the time of waiting for results.

Please bless Mr. P, Kim’s new husband, with wisdom as he works through difficult issues with his son. Help him as he reaches out in a difficult time to remain as a loving parent in the life of his son while being tough if needed on certain things. Please help Kim to be a good support to Mr. P during this trying time. May it bring them closer together as they pray together over this son.

Thank You, Lord, for the love You put into this day. May we as Christians always be open to sharing Your love with a needy world. Help us to keep demonstrating love for those who have reelected Obama. It is hard to love at times, but with Your Spirit in us we are able to do more than we thought possible. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  2. Thank you Janice. I had just popped onto this thread to ask for prayers for him and his son. We aren’t sure exactly what all is going on but there have been some major lies and cover-ups and as the calls came in last night it seemed to get worse. The son is not a Christian.

  3. Kim, it is hard to learn one has been lied to because it means the relationship is not on firm ground. At least y’all are aware of the lying now. Trust is hard to rebuild because there is always that thought about if what is being told is another lie. It is definitely something to go to God over daily with your husband.

  4. In my morning devotional reading the prayer was a reminder to pray for missionaries so my thought turned immediately to Ajisuun and Phos in The Gambia.

    Heavenly Father,

Thank You for gifting our world with those who are willing to give up creature comforts and go into foreign lands to carry Your gospel and to be Your hands, heart, feet and mind to the people who live without the light of Jesus in their lives. I pray for those in The Gambia who are in the realm of influence of Ajisuun and Phos. Please open their hearts to be receptive to hearing the gospel as they have physical needs relieved by the work of the missionaries. Please continue to help Phos with her health issues. May her communication skills grow stronger day by day. Thank You for bringing their reports to us here on this blog. May we soon hear good news from the plot of ground on earth that they at this point call their home. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  5. Seems, Baby Girl needs a little prayer as well. I dropped her off at school, headed to work, got a call from the school nurse, she is running fever and mono is the likely culprit. We have a doctor’s appointment at 11:15. 😦

  6. Here is my prayer for today:

    1 Timothy 2:1-2

    King James Version (KJV)

    2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

  7. Norma’s surgery went well, she sounded good (and relieved) when I spoke with her on the phone tonight. She’s very glad it’s over with and is having (so far) no discomfort. Thanks for your prayers!
