What should we pray for today?
Psalm 25:16-18
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish.
18 Look on my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.
Thank you for those verses, AJ. I needed them this morning after waking up with a very unsettled feeling about a number of things.
I’m dealing with some spiritual warfare lately and could use prayers.

I have been concerened about Baby Girl’s eating habits for some time. Last night I walked in the bathroom while I thought she would be in the shower and found her throwing up. She says this happens sometimes, her stomach will get really hard and she doesn’t force herself, she just does.
Luckily she has a dentist appointment next week so they can tell me some things by looking at the enamal on her teeth. Next step is an appointment with our family doctor, who has explained to her before about her eating habits.
She eats carbs and proteins. She will eat a hamburger, but not meatloaf. She will eat steak but not roast beef. She will eat one type of deli ham not not any others. She will eat a pork chop but only if her father cooks it a special way (which apparently I am not capable of duplicating). I am still paying off the $1,200 I spent on a nutritionist for her.

Yes, AJ, thank you for the verses. They do help us to focus on things above, that greatness that we seek out, when things before us want to consume us.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your word which is a solid foundation for life. Thank You for AJ and his ministry through this blog. Please bless him and his family as they continue to process their grief over the passing of Howard.
Lord, I pray for all those who are struggling with issues who are commenters on this blog. Some receive constant bombardment from the evil one and his minions. I pray for a hedge of protection around them and their families. Jesus taught us to pray for deliverance from evil and to keep us from temptation. I pray here in like manner for who could we imitate other than Jesus and expect good results? I know His words are words You thoroughly understand. I especially lift up 6 Arrows and Kim and BG in this regard. May anything of sincere concern come to light so it can be met head on with Your power of healing and restoring. Ease their anxieties and give them peace.
Thank you for hearing this prayer. Thank You for the living water that gives abundant life. May we dip our buckets deep into the well today and find the joy that comes only through faith in Jesus that You have given as a good and perfect gift. In His name, Amen

Last night’s special service was wonderful! The latter part of the service was praying specifically for people & their needs. Whoever wanted to be prayed for sat on a stool, had hands laid on them, & was prayed over.
One particular testimony I heard this morning was of a friend’s mother whose back pain was healed. She woke up pain free this morning. Praise God!
I didn’t see any outward change in my Chrissy or her friends, but am believing that God is indeed working on the inside.
~~~
A recent development with Chrissy has me uneasy, though I’m trying not to let her see how I feel. A few days ago, she had her sister cut her hair to be a modified mohawk-type style. The sides are not “bald” but are “buzzed” quite close (enough that skin shows through a bit), & the strip on top is maybe 3 or 4 inches across, brushed downward towards her forehead. It is not very attractive on her, especially since she is heavy.
(Her sister & friends tell her they like it.)
The haircut she had earlier this year was short, but long enough that her curls came into play – very cute on her, & accentuated the sparkle in her eyes. Then she got it cut shorter, in a “pixie” style that was still kind of cute, but cut off the curls.
As I mentioned sometime in the last few weeks, I am praying for Chrissy to have a deeper awareness of her femininity, & her femaleness (is there a difference between the 2?). But most of all, may she have a deeper awareness of God’s truth, & His great love for her.
Sorry this is so long!
Hi Karen O,
It is tough when we see our children making decisions that do not appear to be healthy. Praying with you.
Praying, too, for Chrissy & BG. Those teen years can be so confusing with so many social pressures. 😦
Prayers here, also, for Chrissy and Baby Girl. Ditto Donna’s remark on the teen years.
Kim, there’s something else I thought of when reading your post about BG besides the possibility of eating disorders, and that is, has her nutritionist or family doctor checked on the possibility of celiac disease? When I hear “carbs” and “throwing up”, my mind goes immediately to the possibility of gluten intolerance. A person can be gluten intolerant and not have any symptoms of it for some time. Frequently, stressful life events can bring on the outward symptoms of the disease.
Starting high school could certainly be a trigger, with all its associated pressures. She obviously has also experienced family changes recently; your starting a new job and getting married, though good things, certainly impact BG, also, as your daughter. All those big life changes together for her can have physical ramifications, particularly if there is already an underlying issue like celiac disease present.
I would have her tested for CD to rule out the possibility of gluten in her diet being the cause of her throwing up.
Heavenly Father, Thank you for Sundays, days when we gather corporately in our churches to worship You and to learn more in our Sunday School or Life Group times. So often when we are out in the day-to-day world we are surrounded by nonbelieving people and their concerns and standards. It is so nice to have the refreshment of gathering together with like-minded people. And that is how this blog site is! Thank You, Abba, for You know what Your children need.
I do lift up the girls named by their parents who are at that age and stage of developing their self image. Lord, I pray You will come alongside each girl in their struggle and give them Your view of themselves. They are uniquely made by You, and as I heard one pastor say, “God doesn’t make junk!” Please make them aware of their sufficiency in You. If there are negative influences in their lives telling them that they need to do this or that to make them fit in or fit some prescribed image of a peer group, Lord, please, help them to be strong against that influence. I pray they will learn to flee any temptation to please others rather than to live to please You. Please develop within them a strong and everlasting faith that will see them into eternity with You. Lord, I know You will work things out in Your own way and timing, but I offer up my wishes to You for I do not want to see any young people headed off of Your path where they could stumble and get hurt. Please help these young ones to be obedient to their parents and open about what they are going through so their parents can support them in their needs. You have so blessed us with the responsibility of being parents. Help us to always do what You would have us to do as an influence for good in our children’s lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Janice, thank you so much for those powerful prayers. I can’t come here as frequently as I’d like, but when I do, I look for your prayers.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers often. Be well.
