  1. Please remember to pray for Nicole. She is the young woman I mentioned earlier in the week. They initially thought she had stage 4 colon cancer, but the oncologist ran a blood test and the primary cancer came from the ovaries. He is calling it stage 3 ovarian cancer. Wednesday night her church held a candlelight prayer vigil in the hospital parking lot. Her husband came down to thank everyone.

  2. Please pray for Liam’s parents, K & M. They were able to bring Liam home again yesterday, but they are understandably nervous about the next few days and weeks.

    Prayed for Tychicus and Nicole.

  3. Please continue to pray for Brooklyn Orrange. If you’re interested in following her story more closely, a group has been set up on Facebook called, “Pray for Brooklyn Orrange.” It is an open group. Here is the update for today: Last night Brooklyn ate a cheeseburger from McDonald’s and laughed with her brother. She has improved immensely, but still faces one more surgery next Thursday when doctors will try to close the incision in her arm that had to be made because of extreme swelling. For those of you who don’t know the story, she is recovering from Typhoid and acute renal failure. She was in Sierra Leone with her family who are serving as missionaries to victims of sex-trafficking when she became critically ill.

People all over the world are praying for her and her family. Please continue to hold her up in prayer.

  4. I’d like to ask prayer for one of our deacons, Jeff, who was diagnosed only 2 months ago with a large and malignant brain tumor. Surgery has removed much of it, but that, in turn, has left him with more complications, especially in the area of speech. Some of that, however, will hopefully get better with therapy. There already has been improvement.

But there also now are radiation and other treatments he is going through as well. He also is hoping to qualify for a new treatment testing program at ucla.

There is a fb page where we are receiving updates from the family — who, btw, are such an inspiration as they cling to God’s will and see His encouragement through what has been a very, very difficult time and circumstance.

This type of brain cancer is generally terminal (it is the same kind that Sen. Ted Kennedy had). But the family is hoping and praying that the aggressive treatments will provide them with more time together. Jeff has been able to come back to church in the past couple weeks, which has been wonderful.

So, prayer obviously for healing first and foremost …

But also that his speech ability will return and prayer for the challenging walk ahead for him and his family, that God’s presence will be deeply known and that others may come to faith through that.

  5. I’ll ask for prayer also for a friend of mine, Niki, primarily for salvation — but also for some direction as she seeks new employment and living arrangements.

  6. Praise the Lord for healing my nephew’s wife Debbie. Her latest tests show no leukemia cells so it is considered to be controlled. She did not have to have a bone marrow transplant, she is only on oral meds.

  7. I’m pasting here the prayer request which I made today on yesterday’s prayer thread — you can tell I’ve got a lot on my mind…

I’d like to request prayer for safe travels for my oldest daughter. She came home yesterday to celebrate our youngest’s birthday. She is visiting right now at a friend’s who lives a bit out of our area, and tonight will be driving back to the city in which she attends school. She will have a 2-hour drive ahead of her, likely after dark for at least a portion of it, most of which will be on roads unfamiliar to her. We wish it weren’t that way, but that is nevertheless how it looks like it will be. Prayers for her safety as she travels alone would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  8. Lots of prayers today!
Tychicus—may the church plant hear the Holy Spirit through your preaching. May His presence fill the gathering place so that everyone knows they have been in the presence of the Lord.

Nicole—bless her with healing and the warmth of knowing so many people care for her. Comfort, peace and love beyond her imaginings—through the touch of Jesus…felt through being uplifted in prayer.

  9. May Liam’s parents be infused with confidence that You, Father God, will guide them to care for the needs of their child in a perfect way. May the resources to help them be available immediately should they have questions.

Lord, hear the prayers of Your children praying all over the world for Brooklyn. Show Yourself strong and mighty to fight off disease and illness that afflicts those who are susceptible when they are in regions to help care for others.

  10. Lord, Your servant, Jeff, needs Your healing touch. Please help him with a healing miracle if it is Your will. He has been such a help to Your community on earth. Please, may he be restored to good health so he can get back to Your work.

And Lord, I pray for Niki, Donna’s friend, to come into saving knowledge of Jesus. May she come to know Your love that never ends. Open her eyes and ears so there are no more blockages to Your truth. Bless Niki with Your finest gift of salvation. She needs You Lord. Make her aware that there is only one solution to her emptiness and it is Jesus.

  11. 6 Arrows, I pray your daughter has safe travels today and always. I thank God for cell phones and other modern conveniences that aid in safe travels. And thanks to God for good family celebrations of birthdays and such.

  12. Speaking of cell phones, my son has lost his and we have been out of touch except for e-mail for about two weeks. Please pray he will find his phone so I can hear his voice once in awhile. Thanks for your prayers.

  13. Janice, this is so simple I’m almost ashamed to mention it.
But have you tried calling the number and listening for the ring?
Of course, if it was on when he lost it, the battery is likely dead now.

  14. Thanks, Chas, and Karen, for your prayers for my son’s phone. I did try it early on and it would ring with no one answering and then go over to voice mail. Now it immediately goes to voice mail so I know the battery is out of power. He lives in a college dorm. I asked him to see if it could be in a lost and found bin at the college. He used it for his alarm clock so I don’t even know what he is doing about that. We are so out of touch because he rarely does e-mail. I trust in God it will all work out.

  15. Good morning. Janice, I so enjoy reading your prayers. Please continue with the encouraging words.

I’d like to ask for prayers for my friend, Garrett, who just spent 10 days with us. He is not a believer. He was raised by atheist parents and has had very limited exposure to Christianity. I think I’m his only conservative, Christian friend. We’ve been friends since fourth grade. We competed against each other in talent shows and UIL competitions, worked on the annual together, participated in Student Council and spent countless hours discussing the meaning of life. When he “came out” to his parents in high school, they kicked him out of the house. He moved in with me and my parents for about three months. Unfortunately, during this period of my life I was also an atheist. I love him like a brother and would appreciate prayers for his salvation.

  16. Janice, thank you for the beautifully expressed prayers. Jeff was in church today, I misted up when I glanced over at one point and saw, from behind, him and his wife, their arms around each other, as we were all standing and singing “Holy, Holy, Holy,” one of the morning hymns.

  17. Annms, I will pray for you andyour friend Garrett along with all of us who have friends, relatives or aquaintances who are gay.

Heavenly Father, You know Garrett and the side road he has traveled all of his life never looking Your way to see the path You have made for him. You made him in Your image, yet he has gone astray without even realizing it. I pray thank You, Lord, for giving Garrett a Christian in his life who can make him aware that he has a loving Father God. You know the hearts of these children of Yours who are only looking for love. They settle for less than what You would give them. If only they could know You and Jesus and the Holy Spirit as their Three-In -One God and all that You have for them including love greater than they have ever known, and a place in heaven, an eternal place with You for life after death. Lord, I pray You would make an opening for words to be spoken into their lives to share You in a kind rather than judgemental way. Some have no clue as to what You are about while others have only felt the sword of judgement coming from any mention of God. May Your love enfold these lost children, Lord. Help them to learn to delight in You and Your holiness and purity. May they seek to have the blood of Jesus to wash them clean of any unrighteousness. We all have been in need of that Lord. Thank You for each time You show another one that You can save people from whatever sin they are in. Please Lord, I pray for Garrett and others like him that You will set them free today of the sin that has kept them in bondage. Thank You Lord for what You are doing to bring him to salvation. I know You want all to come to salvation including Garrett. I pray in Jesus’ name that You will not neglect Garrett’s need for Jesus today. Amen

    • Janice G.: Thank you for the eloquent prayer. I long for him to know Jesus. It gives me great comfort to know others are praying for him. Many people prayed for me for years before I became a Christian.

  18. Thank you for the prayers for my daughter. She had an uneventful journey and made it back safely to her destination last night around 10:00.

Janice, all your prayers here are so soothing to read. Thank you very much.

  19. Thank you Annms for your encouragement to pray. I have been praying for years for some people and sometimes feel like giving up. But I try to stay faithful in praying knowing that in God’s time and in His way He will bring people on board. I think prayer is of utmost importance. I am benefited myself by praying in addition to helping others.

  20. Update on Darby, the girl who fell off of the back of the van. Her mom and step dad came to church this morning so I met them in person for the first time, though I have been speaking with her on the phone. There will be a family meeting with the docs on Monday or Tuesday and they will agree to having the life support withdrawn. They are okay with it but in deep mourning.

  21. Praying for Darby’s parents as they are going through this tragic time that no parent should ever have to face. Please, Lord, may they have peace in the midst of sorrow as You are so good to give to Your children. It is that peace that passes understanding. May they feel the hands of Jesus holding their hands while walking with them to the meeting with the doctor and through all the other doors that they never imagined walking through in the next week. Please give a sweet passing to Darby into the arms of Jesus. I pray in His name. Amen

  22. Thank You, Lord, for the video that Kim shared of Nicole’s witness during her time of trial. Please ease her anxiety about chemo. Strengthen her in ways she never anticipated she could be strong. Bless her family members with extra stamina as they go through these long days trying to be there for Nicole and the children. IJN
