Talk about whatever news has caught your attention.
As someone with sensitive teeth, this one caught mine.
Japan Tooth Patch Could End Decay
“Scientists in Japan have created a microscopically thin film that can coat individual teeth to prevent decay or to make them appear whiter, the chief researcher said.
The “tooth patch” is a hard-wearing and ultra-flexible material made from hydroxyapatite, the main mineral in tooth enamel, that could also mean an end to sensitive teeth.
“This is the world’s first flexible apatite sheet, which we hope to use to protect teeth or repair damaged enamel,” said Shigeki Hontsu, professor at Kinki University’s Faculty of Biology-Oriented Science and Technology in western Japan.”
And this one did as well.
From the Washington Post
“QE3: What is quantitative easing? And will it help the economy?”
“Answer that might make sense: Normally, when there’s a recession or the economy is limping along, the Federal Reserve will reduce short-term interest rates in order to spur more lending and spending. But right now, the Fed has cut interest rates as far as they can go and the economy is still struggling. This is known as the “zero bound.” The Fed can’t go any lower.
So, instead, the central bank can try quantitative easing. Since the Federal Reserve can just create dollars out of thin air, it can buy up assets like long-term Treasuries or mortgage-backed securities from commercial banks and other institutions. This pumps money into the U.S. economy and reduces long-term interest rates further. When long-term interest rates go down, investors have more incentive to spend their money now. In theory.”

But if the first 2 didn’t work, why would the 3rd?
It is worth considering whether we are now, as a nation, being punished by God for turning away from Him. If this is the case, I would suggest that elections, economic policies, new laws and judicial decisions may matter little. Perhaps the only thing that can stop our downward spiral is if we, as a nation, turn back to God in repentance and faith.

True, Ricky. Even if our economy gets back on a good track, we are still going downhill in other areas, particularly in the area of morality.

A religious/financial guru, James McKeever, that I used to follow, said the Bill Clinton was God’s judgment on America. I don’t know about that. Obama is much worse.
I have a book, The Harvest by Rick Joyner. He claims to have had three visions in 1987/88. According to him, there will be a “harvest” of all the accumulated bad. “Everything that can be shaken will be shaken.” p.43.
“When we give approval to the things which God disapproves it is unsanctified mercy and it will bring judgment upon the whole house.”
I had not heard of “unsanctified mercy” before. An interesting concept.

Our SS class was attended yesterday by a former member who left to minister in VA and other government hospitals.
During the conversation I asked, “I have many e-mails telling of governmnent restrictions on the use of the Bible and witnessing in Federal buildings and hospitals. Do you face any such restrictions? ” He affirmed that he did, and that he tried to work around them.
I then said, “Then, the homosexual marriage and abortion we were discussing are really second tier issues. The real issue is the efforts to remove the Bible and prayer from public discourse.”
If the Bible and prayer are relegated to within the walls of the church. We are ready for the Harvest, because there is no restraint on evil. .

RE: QE3
So, since QE1 and QE2 worked so well [/sarcasm off], now the FED going to try QE3. In addition to printing money and keeping interest rates down, now the FED is going to buy up hundreds of billions of mortgage loans each year for in indefinite amount of time….
…but it’s not printing money and spending it.. it’s Quantitative Easing.
Peter Schiff of Europacific Capital says that since the last QE operation was called “Operation Twist” that this one should be called “Operation Screw”. Why? Because we’re all screwed. Anyone holding any amount of money in dollar denominations is going to get hurt. Badly.
Nouriel Roubini seems to agree…

I have been speculating to myself what would happen if Obama is reelected. This is what I have, so far:
The era of big government is upon us. The country will move to the left at greater speed under the direction of Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama. People with capital gains will sell them before taxes go up. Likely a market crash.
If Republican House and Senate are elected, the country will be without leadership of any sort and will not be governed. This may not be all bad.
EPA will shut down most oil production in the US, including private property.
Almost all coal mining will stop, though the price of natural gas may contribute to that. Obama may find a way to curtail gas production too.
There will be more Solyndra like green job scams.
Aid and support to the Muslim Brotherhood will increase. Aid to Israel will decrease; and the Sixth Fleet will be withdrawn from the Mediterranean. There will be more attempts to reach out to Muslims, especially those who are trying to bring sharia to America.
The southern border will virtually disappear. Before 2016, sharia will be used to settle a legal dispute in some state.
Nothing will be done about Iran’s nuclear program. Israel will likely strike Iran.
Along with contraception, abortion will be paid for by taxpayers. Euthanasia will be permitted. Possibly even encouraged, though that may be a stretch because the Overton Window will not have reached that point. Actions against Christians similar to February 2011 – Obama directs the Justice Department to stop
defending the federal Defense of Marriage Act. will increase.
Likely, a liberal justice will be appointed to the Supreme Court and Gay marriage will be ruled constitutional.

“If we doubt that Obama intends to use force to restructure America, consider Barack Obama’s comment during last year’s campaign that — “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve national security objectives we have set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, and just as well-funded”
What do you suppose a civilian military-equivalent would be used to enforce? What edicts from the White House? Would local police be displaced? Who would be targeted by a “strong, well-funded” national security force?
Remeber, Obama is a community organizer. He knows how to create chaos.” source for this quote is lost.
US will further reduce its nuclear arsenal, and missiles. Obama will have more leeway to negotiate with the Russians. Therefore Missile interceptors will be reduced, not just in Europe, but everywhere. We will continue to reduce our nuclear stockpile. Women will be in combat units.
The Blind Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman (1993 WTC bombing) will be returned to Egypt.
If defeated, Obama will not go away as Bush did, but will be criticizing and second guessing like Carter, only more critical. Obama isn’t going away. He knows how to create chaos.

Chas,
I remember talk of that national security force some time ago. I wonder if anything has been done to develop it. The very thought is chilling.

Chas, I agree with many of your points. In addition, whoever wins the Presidential election, nearly half of the country is going to be really mad. I do not believe the country has been so divided since 1865.

The country was deeply divided over Nixon-Kennedy. Kennedy didn’t become a hero until he was killed. Like someone said when Elvis died, “Good career move”.
The division over Bush – Gore was intense. In that case, more people voted against Clinton than for Bush.
Sound familiar?
The difference is that we have a different kind of person in office.
He will destroy the country and doesn’t care.

Chas, I think you and my mother are better informed than I am. She feels about Obama like you do. To me, he is a typical Democrat, completely ignorant about business. I really don’t see him as different than Kerry or Gore, both of whom I believe would have been unmitigated disasters.

The civilian force the President has talked about is meant to be used abroad and would be able to help transitional societies. Instead of having an occupying army, we’d have civilians helping a country rebuild. On nukes, President Reagan prposed a drastic reduction to Gorbachev – this is hardly revolutionary territory.
