Prayer Requests week of 9-4-12

Do you have a prayer request you’d like to make? This is the place.

Make one, update us on one, find someone to pray for, or just let someone know you’ll pray for them. Encourage one another.

16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

James 5:16

  1. You don’t know Ann. She is a neighbor and wife of a retired PCA minister. She is a subscriber to World and in our discussions, she said she often reads (Lurks to us) the blog, but has never posted. You don’t know her, but she knows you. Her operation is now.
    Hi ladies,
You may already know this, but if not…Ted called this morning (Tuesday) to let us know that Ann’s hip surgery is scheduled for 10:45 AM (at Pardee). She’s been there since 7:45 AM. I’m sure she would appreciate our thoughts & prayers. Thanks.

  3. update on new temp child. She is doing well. We are giving her lots of opportunity to practice controlling her anger. Most of the children have seen through her manipulation, we still have to protect the younger three. She hates me and wants desperately to be adopted by us. Not happening, she is already in an adoptive home. I am doing my part to make sure she prefers her adoptive mom to me.

  4. Please remember in your prayers a young mom, R, who is struggling with cancer. She was diagnosed while pregnant (a tumor was discovered during a routine pregnancy ultrasound). She carried the pregnancy long enough to virtually ensure that the baby would not die of prematurity, about 30 weeks, I believe, then delivered her son by caesarean section and started cancer treatment. Baby is doing well and is a few (or several) months old now…I don’t remember for sure as this is a family that friends of mine know, but I myself do not…but R’s health is failing rapidly, and it appears she will be going home to the Lord very soon. R is very strong in her faith. Please pray for her husband and the son that she loves so much that she was willing to give him a chance at life, though it may cost her her own.

  5. Thanks, Kevin. I mentioned her on Something New. She is here on respite which is a brief time apart for her and her adoptive mom to calm down. She is a twelve year old with a lot of pain in her life.

  6. My prayer request seems so minor compared to some of the life and death issues I have prayed for here.

I have been taking a writing course with the Christian Writers Guild and recently completed it. Today I have gotten my first small assignment to do an article. I am excited but also anxious to do the best job I can. Please pray for me to be guided by God’s wisdom in the best use of my words.

Thank you so much for praying. This is really great to have a solemn portion of the blog designated for prayers so they are not falling into the other random postings. Blessings, Janice

  7. Mumsee, praying for your girl as you have for mine. Please remember the family of my friend Kathy. She left behind a husband, two sons, a daughter, a mother, and an uncle who all loved her.

  8. JaniceG, isn’t it neat that God cares about the details and wants us to bring them to Him?

Karen O, her mom was not raised in church but is thinking it is time to go find a good one.

    Kim, thanks.

  9. I see my cardiologist Wednesday morning to get the results of the chemical stress test I had two weeks ago. Please pray that he has found the source of my breathing problem and what to do about it. As it is, I can’t walk from the bedroom to the kitchen without feeling out of breath.

  10. Prayed for some of these requests this morning, will catch the rest tonight. How tragic when young moms are taken from their families. 😦

Kay, will pray for your appointment tomorrow.

I’m overdue for a checkup, it’s one of those things I tend to avoid the older I get (dumb, I know). But I’ll have to go back, like it or not, in the next couple weeks in order to get a prescription refilled.

  11. Kay, I prayed for your appointment this morning. Keep us updated.

Jews for Jesus is asking for prayers for a leader, Jhan Moskowitz, who had a bad fall and needs a miracle for survival. Please remember him in your prayers. That organization lost their founding leader this past year.

  12. Good Morning all…I so appreciate this site…to pray for you all is an utmost honor. Could you all please pray for friends of ours? Gerard was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3 and a half years ago….he passed away yesterday. His testimony of trust and faith in our Lord to his unsaved family members has been amazing. Gerard leaves his wife Lisa and three children. Gerard and Lisa also lost their home this June in the Waldo Canyon fire. Thanks.

  13. Please pray for my dear friend Ruthie, who needs a miracle in her marriage. Please pray for God to do a mighty work in her husband, T. Not sure if he is saved or not, but I’m thinking not. He needs God to get a hold of him, & also deliverance from mental problems.

They have 6 children, whom are mostly homeschooled.

Also, I just want you all to know that even if I don’t comment here, I do pray for the requests.

  14. Just got the news that a young friend, about fifteen, is about to be taken off of life support. She fell out of the back of a van and hit her head a few days ago. Her mom lives around here and when she came to visit over the summer, she was introduced here and the children took her to church with them. It is believed she is a believer.

  15. So many situations here are hurting hearts all around us. The hurts are deep leaving wide gaping holes in peoples lives. Oh, Lord, even so, You are greater still. Be with each of these in their times of desperation and affliction. Ease the suffering and the transitions for others according to Your will. We don’t understand how all these difficulties can overtake Your children, but we trust in You to cover them all with Your gracious hand of caring. Please give peace that passes understanding. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  16. Just got word today that the young lady in the Atlanta area who was in her 30’s and had battled cancer and then developed a bacterial infection and had to have her hands and feet amputated has died. She and her husband were attending my church for a short time before she became so sick. The tragedies seem so extreme lately. 😦 May God comfort those in need. There was another younger girl who was in the zip line accident and had an infection and had some amputations, too. This is not the same person.

  17. This just came out from Jews for Jesus on the prior prayer request. 😦

“Dear praying friends of Jews for Jesus and the Moskowitz family,

Yesterday we wrote to tell you that our dear friend and brother Jhan took a fall that resulted in a severe brain injury. Over the course of the day his condition worsened and he was placed on life support.

We had hoped to report a miracle today but that has not been the case. As of early afternoon the doctors began the process of determining whether Jhan would be able to survive on his own. With no brain activity since yesterday afternoon, the result was a formal declaration of death. The medical explanation was herniation as a result of intracranial hemorrhage.

There will be a memorial service on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m.at Trinity Baptist Church, 250 E 61st Street in New York City. His body will be buried in Chicago on Sunday where there will be a private graveside service.

The family requests that you not call them directly. The many, many people who would want to condole with the family after the sudden shock of our brother’s homegoing would overwhelm them at this time. Please know your love and prayers are greatly needed and appreciated and we are working on a way for you to express those as we put together a website where you will be able to share your thoughts. The family will view them when they are ready and able to do so: j4j.co/jhantribute.

Thank you again, for your prayers. All who know Jhan are grateful for his life and testimony. His labor is over, but ours is not. We will do our best to honor Jhan, one of the founders of Jews for Jesus, by continuing to do what he loved to do: tell others about the Messiah and the hope of heaven that He made possible.

    Your brother in Jesus,

    David Brickner”

  18. Janice, this brings back so many sad memories of losing a friend and a relative to brain death, one following a stroke, the other following an accident where he was deprived of oxygen for too long.

You are right that this has been a difficult day for many people. Thank you for your prayer above at 1:04 pm. Very touching.

  19. Thank you all for your prayers, I know they helped keep me calm while waiting to speak with the doctor.

It turns out that my heartbeat has gotten slower, so they adjusted my pacemaker to make the upper chamber and lower chamber beat closer together. Doctor said that it may make the shortness of breath slightly better or a lot worse, we’ll know in about a week. I’m trying not to jump to conclusions, but I feel better today than I have for a long time. I’m still going to take it easy for the next week, just to be sure.

  21. Won’t go into details, but I believe Emily is at a point where she especially needs prayer for her to recognize her sin, & come to repentance. Along with this, please pray that her heart will be softened.

    Thank you.

  22. Our extra child has headed home. Hubby and five of the children are driving her halfway to meet her mom. Whew. It has been a challenge, mostly for the children. But they came through it well and stronger. Hopefully, we were a help to the girl and to her mom. Thanks for praying.
