One of the things I’ve always loved about the internet is that it let’s people communicate nearly instantly. You can pass on news, stories, concerns, good news, bad news, whatever. It’s a great tool for these and many other things. What I’d like to do is use that in a way that’s beneficial to folks.
Most here are the praying type. We pray for our friends, family, coworkers, even total strangers, and ourselves. As followers of Christ, it’s what we do. It’s beneficial to all involved, those praying and the ones being prayed for. So I decided last night, while praying 🙂 that maybe we could use that to benefit each other. So I’m thinking that along with the Daily thread, perhaps another daily thread for prayer requests would be a good idea. I’ve seen them in the open threads, and that people respond when asked to pray, and I decided to try a a thread for just that purpose.
If you have a request, put it up. You can be as vague, sometimes too many details can be a problem, or specific as you’d like. Your call. Besides, God knows the who and what of it, even if the details are vague to us. He knows already. So if you have a request, put it up. If you’re a Prayer Warrior, do your thing.
I consider it a blessing when folks pray for me, and a blessing to be able to ask God to help others when they need it. It’s win/win people. 🙂
Philippians 4:5-7
5Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus
Please pray for me and wife for wisdon in dealing with Nicholas.

Praying for you Roy.
And please pray for us as the adoptive mom of one of our children is making decisions on what to do with her. The child is more than the mom can handle and she is looking for residential treatment. It is possible that God will keep the child here, she is quite happy here. Willing to do her school work, helping with chores, etc, but that is only the early picture. I am not sure I am up for it long term but God knows what He is about. Wisdom, then, for us and for the adoptive mom. And peace for the child as her world continues to be shaken.

I so like this idea. I know several of you pray for me quite often. I just ask that you remember me in your prayers as I start taking the next steps in a different direction.

Praying for you all….thanks so much AJ for this …I count it all joy to pray for others….tis a blessing. Roy…Nicholas is so blessed to have you and Judy as his parents…the Lord has entrusted his care to you and He will give to you the wisdom and strength to see Nicholas through…just as He has done and continues to do for Mumsee and Mike…your ministry to these children touches so many lives…thank you for stepping up and for putting your shoulder to the plow for the least of these.
Praying for you as well Kim…I’m excited to see what He has ahead for you and BG!

I always pray for my on-line friends, even when I don’t post that I’ve been here. I’d like to see this particular thread be continuous, at least month by month, so we can easily check back to see progress.

I love the idea of having a separate thread for prayer requests. I think this is the place I will close each day, praying for the needs expressed that day (and previous days as well, as the Spirit leads). I probably won’t leave a specific comment that I have prayed, but please know, friends, that I will write your name in my prayer notebook and spend some quiet time lifting you in prayer.
Blessings to you all.

A prayer thread is a great idea. Please remember me too when you pray, as I remember you.
Be well.

I’ve decided we should do this post on a weekly basis. This way It will be easier to keep track of. I’ll post a new one every week, and will archive the previous weeks into the side bar under it’s own Prayer Request Category. That will allow you to still keep up with older requests, and even update specific requests you may have put up. Thoughts?

Sounds good. Is it possible to have a comment count on the one page viewing of each page. So, when looking at those on the right, one can see where comments have been added?

I have an unspoken that God will work in a situation tonight or tomorrow. I know what I want to happen, but it is in God’s hands.

Blessings, all! Before I got on the computer this morning I read my Bible and spent some time in prayer and remembered my friends here to God. It was great to find this prayer thread.

Hey folks. I’ll be visiting family this next week. I was hoping to be helpful, (by being a handy man for my parents) but the damaged index finger will probably prevent a lot of that. Would appreciate your prayers for a good visit (it’s too far and way too expensive to waste a trip), and travel mercies. (I don’t wanna bang this finger up anymore.)

Great idea! Pray for my dad. I came to the US last week because we didn’t think he was going to make it. PTL he is doing better. He has moved in with my sister and her husband. Difficult adjustments all around.

I don’t watch Good Morning America often, but I would like to ask for prayers for itsanchorwoman, Robin Roberts. Just as she is about to start bone marrow transplant treatments for MDS [I think Monday], her mother passed away yesterday.

Prayers for all as I read through this thread.
Great idea to have all requests in one place – easier to dedicate a chunk of time for prayer.

Praying for y’all today. Please pray that our promotion Sunday will go smoothly at church. We don’t have enough teachers in town so we will have two classes combined which can be chaotic but at least we will have several teachers together (may the Force be with us—referring to the power of the Holy Spirit, of course). Also my son is a senior in college and is having a lot on his plate right now. Lots of school work and also decisions to make about future plans. Please pray for him. Thank you for talking to the Lord in our behalf. Blessings, Janice

No “major” prayer needs for me at the moment, but I checked in here to see what to pray for. I too don’t always comment when I have prayed for someone.
AJ, weekly sounds like a good idea.

As to the prayer request I mentioned earlier in comment number….mm…well, it says three hundred but it is about five.
The child is still with us and res treatment is not an option. Hubby is hoping I will change my mind and offer to keep her long term. He thinks we can really help her. I am not sure I am up to the challenge as I am already dealing with several what they call “oppositional” children. Pray that God will be heard and the right decision will be made. I am sure we can help her if that is what God wants from us as He will give us the means and strength.

That is such a difficult decision, Mumsee. I know you have such a heart for the children and do not want to turn one away, and yet, if that one diminishes the help the others receive…prayer is definitely needed. May God grant you insight as to what should be done. You are a good witness either way.

Requesting prayer that I would keep a healthy balance between my internet time and family time. The Lord has been laying it on my heart to increase the latter and decrease the former. He has blessed me with many important people in my life, both online and in my day-to-day and face-to-face life, people who have ministered to me and to whom I have the opportunity to minister. I appreciate all of you here, but I know that my family must come first. It is not just believing and knowing that, but actually living it out, in short, being obedient to God’s call, that I endeavor to follow in a God-honoring way. Thank you.

I have a college friend (with whom I am in daily e-mail contact) who has a rather full life, including being a pastor’s wife, having a mother who’s close to being an invalid (my friend is an only child), and two adopted special-needs children.
Last summer she was diagnosed with cancer, and she has had several surgeries. They haven’t found any more cancer, but she isn’t healing from her latest surgery, and e-mailed me last night that she is quite sick (a bit of a fever–two degrees–and chills, as well as no appetite). She always has quit a balancing act, a lot of people who truly need her, but really she shouldn’t be doing much . . . anyway, she has a lot of people who need her, and she’s one of my two closest friends, one of my “oldest” friends in terms of how long I’ve known her, and I’d really like to see her beat this and survive the treatment. Her initial is C. (Her name is “distinctive” enough that I’d rather not give it.)

Another prayer request:
About a year ago there was suspicious activity in my rural area, and two people got arrested for trespassing and theft on land close to ours. The two arrested had shown up at my door about two weeks before that, making claims that we learned later were false.
Just now, my neighbor, on whose land those two had trespassed, came to my door to tell me that at least one of them was back at it, and got charged with trespassing two days ago on another neighbor’s land. The disconcerting thing is that my neighbor found out by going online that the charges from last year had been dropped, and one of them had a criminal record three pages long, mostly trespassing and theft.
The two neighbors on whose property the trespassing/theft occurred live on a dead-end road. Our family lives on a different dead-end road in the area; it appears that these “hunters” are casing out our area, and like to use dead-end roads in wooded areas as a means to remain fairly hidden and get access to whatever they see that interests them.
I would appreciate your prayers on behalf of our family and our neighbors for our safety in this area.
