  1. Decades ago, I visited a pastor’s wife in the hospital. She had carried a child in the womb for 10 months who had a similar medical condition to the story above. She felt hounded by her doctor and others to abort but refused. The baby did die soon after the birth. The pressure to abort made a difficult thing even more difficult. I am glad to read this couple (in the article) were not maligned for not getting an abortion. Perhaps that is good growth in another direction.

  2. When a similiar pregnancy happened to one of my relatives, we cried together, and the couple determined to be the best parents for that little girl they could be–no matter how short her life.

She died at 28 weeks in utero.

The weekend before her death, I went to Etsy and found a handkerchief bonnet. I requested the smallest size and explained why.

The creator shipped it overnight with a prayer.

It arrived the day before the baby was born.

She wore it after she took her only breaths.

    And I’m crying now.

It was the bravest thing they could have done and I’m so proud of them.

Particularly when the doctors pressed and pressed and pressed to have them abort her, “to save you your pain.”

That pressure came AFTER abortion was still legal even in my state. They were willing and wanted to break the law to terminate that baby early.

Instead, deep in her mother, she heard her parents’ voices of love, and her sisters kissing their mom’s tummy.

The six-year-old, “I miss my baby sister.”

15 months later when another sister was born five weeks early–and all of you prayed–that seven year old burst into tears at the news.

“I’m not crying because I’m sad. I’m crying because I’m so happy the baby didn’t die.”

Life and death are in the tongue.

There are five children in heaven waiting for us–my daughters-in-law and me–to greet them once again face to face.

I don’t think you ever really forget a baby you never got to know.

  3. “Rand Paul reveals Washington spent $4,600,000 of YOUR money to find out whether getting drunk makes you FALL DOWN.

Another $3,000,000 went to studying whether eating ants fights global warming.

$7,000,000 on a “smart toilet” that photographs your backside.

And $2,000,000 to learn if hot tubs help you relax.

Rand Paul kept the receipts. It gets dumber:

    • NIH spent $1,000,000 to help people get over their fear of the dentist.

    • USAID spent $48,000,000 to help disconnected Tunisian youth cope with modern society.

    • NIH spent $36,000,000 to find out why stress turns hair gray.

    • Washington even sent money to Central America to train people on how to apply for U.S. grants. Yes, really. We paid them to get better at taking our money.

Not one American with an ounce of common sense would vote to approve a dime of this garbage.

The government pisses away billions like this and never stops asking for MORE.”

    And it’s both sides.

  4. “The genius of men like Russell Moore and David French is claiming that the church is more faithful when she functions as a persecuted minority — but then compromising with the secular left in precisely those ways that make them “evangelical celebrities” rather than enemies in the eyes of the progressives. It’s kind of ironic when the same evangelical leaders who say we should live as exiles get invited to write for the Atlantic and the New York Times. Persecution for thee, but not for me.”

  5. A win for American tech workers. No more second class citizen status in their own country.
