Good morning! We are having flash floods today. I went to Publix anyways, and few shoppers were in there.
I-75 has standing water on it so traffic is hung up . Art still needs to head to work but is waiting for the moment.
This was the weekend for a chalk artist festival, you know the ones who decorate sidewalks, etc? Not a good day at all for that! Also, archery deer season started today.
Art did not go to work. It finally cleared up and we have sunshine now. Glad for those attending evening football games
Pumpkin got a surprise yesterday when she stopped by. The electrician was leaving and she did not expect to see him open the door. i have not seen her since 🙂
Our brunch guests just left and I am so exhausted. They were here 8 hours and the conversation was non stop. That is so hard on my brain even though they are a dear couple I cannot process after a certain point!
We were out late listening to our sweet young friend playing guitar singing and trying out her new harmonica. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect. And a rainbow appeared right over the venue as she sang a tune about rain falling! Perfect! 🌈
Our county had mosquitoes in our zipcode test positive for West Nile Virus. No human cases yet. I am more reluctant to sit outside now.
Our pastor has been in Genesis for maybe over a year. He is very good at bringing out important things people may have overlooked. Sometimes though I feel concern that we need to bring Jesus in more for any who are not yet believers. The sermons are geared more to mature believers. Any thoughts about that?
What I have read is that the church is mostly for the building up of believers. Even so, there is supposed to be enough for the unbeliever to get a feel for what we believe about Jesus.
I think of the verses Paul wrote about speaking in tongues. One of his concerns was that if it was done too loudly, without interpretation, then unbelievers would not be edified by it or know what it meant. It may have been uplifting for the believers present, but not the unbelievers.
Thankful with you Janice that those maintenance issues have been dealt with…sorry Pumpkin was scared out of her wits by the electrician!
At our church we have just begun the study in Genesis. It was interesting to hear your take on how it was presented to perhaps the more rooted believers and not to new or not yet believers. I came home today thinking “why did our pastor continue to ask if we loved God?” He preached from the first chapter and didn’t hit on certain portions of scripture I believed he would point out. I’m thinking to myself that he was speaking to a room of believers who have walked with the Lord for an average of 50 years…faithful believers yet that was his focus of that chapter…I’m still pondering why that was his focus…

I should add that that’s how I understand it, but not necessarily the definitive answer.
