Today, we will be traveling a couple of hours or so for a tour of the Apostle Islands and some time with two of our daughters and some of the grands. This trip was supposed to include all of our daughters, but after a few years we gave up on that ambition. Ironically, however, our other daughter will come up next week and we will see her. Time to gather gets more and more complicated as grandchildren grow up and families increase. What joy when we can get together for something fun. Unfortunately, the weather is not supposed to cooperate with us. I will manage and be grateful. The grands will learn a bit more of our family history.
Great to tell family history to grandchildren. Our 2nd granddaughter wants to know the history, so I gave her a thumb drive with files my dad wrote and some photos.
And it’s Friday again! Tomorrow grandson #1 tests for his Tae Kwan Do black belt, so we’ll be going to see that. Since it’s only 90 miles away we can make it a day trip. We’ll also celebrate the 6th birthday of the youngest granddaughter. Whew! They grow up fast!
Well it’s hot outside once again. Summer doesn’t want to give even a hint at skedaddling right now!
Had breakfast at our local cafe in the forest with my two dear friends. Our other dear one continues to grow weaker and doesn’t know anyone for the most part. She is still mean which causes me so much sadness that this is how she is finishing this life. Oh one day we shall gather together again with no more pain no more sorrow. Parkinson’s has been awful and the dementia even worse.
I love hearing of close families and am thankful to hear your grands want to know family history. I was the one in our family who wanted to dig into history along with my closest cousin on my Mom’s side. Cousin and I share old photos and ask questions of the rest of the family who are still alive.
My children have never shown a desire to know our family history and when I’ve started telling them they acted disinterested. I have much of it written down so perhaps the two with whom we still have relationship will find it and read it after I’m gone!
