  1. Good morning! I expect to see Peter. We could even be cross-posting.

The funeral went well yesterday. Son did an excellent job with the eulogy and gave people details they did not know.

We did three hymns, Amazing Grace, When This Passing World Is Done, and Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand. The last two were favs of my brother and I had never heard of them

People attended from most all the churches my brother had attended and even two from my parent’s church. Our 101 year old cousin attended. Several of his neighbors attended and offered their help to us. Four of my Bible study ladies attended. Two friends from the street on which we grew up. One relative drove from Louisiana and others from Titusville. That last one worked on the first Space X project and was in meetings with Elon Musk. I never knew.

I almost forgot, three of Art”s employees attended.

After the graveside service we had a dinner at a local BBQ restaurant and had around twenty to attend.

I had imagined I would have no energy for doing all the events but they all were such that I got through it with enjoyment.

  2. You honored your brother well, Janice, and I’m sorry I’m late to the condolensces.

It’s got to be an odd feeling to bid goodbye to the last of your relatives–with the exception of your aunt. A sibling, though. Just hard.

    Take your time to grieve.

    xoxo

  3. I do not have any living aunts so he was the last. Art wrote the obit and I caught it after he printed it and told him we had no living aunt’s, just cousins.

The pastor misspoke in saying my brother stood for a minute last Thurs. I had told him he’d seen my brother on his last good day when he’d been up in the wheelchair for a meal. That was a while back in the rehab center. In the grand scheme these little mixups don’t matter. The gospel was well presented as my brother had hoped for at his funeral and graveside service.

  4. Janice – I am so glad for you that you made it through the day, even with enjoyment.

Like you, I am the last one left of my “family of origin,” I think it’s called. It’s kind of a strange feeling when I think of it.
