  1. Thanks for replying Michelle.

Interesting “small world” story. Reminds me of the time I was giving a cave tour. I ask people where they’re from. One woman said, “A small town near Iowa City you’ve probably never heard of.”

Since Mrs L is from that area I told her I knew the small towns around there. When she said what town, I said, “My wife’s cousin lives there.”

She asked what was the cousin’s name, and I told her. She replied, “That’s my best friend!”

  2. Morning! Another hot day on tap but the air is fresh to start out our day!

Husband had to drop out of the race after a bit over forty miles…his stomach completely shut down and he could not take in anything…so sad and he says this is it…no more ultras…I told him his retirement career will be picking up pine cones…he kinda agreed!

Peter when I drove past your area it was in torrential rains on hwy 36. We pulled off in Chillicothe and spent the night..not for the faint of heart those conditions! We saw three cars hydroplane flying off into ditches on both sides of the road!

  3. We are having just such a downpour right now

Son had been at ICU all morning into the afternoon. He got home and said he was going out for a run. After he left, within about eight minutes we heard a big Crack of thunder. A bit later he walked in the door and went straight to his room. I am sad that nothing seems to be going right for him this summer.

Art and I had to travel to get Bro’s mail this a.m. Bad timing but it had to be done.

  4. I had to chuckle a bit when we had a postcard announcement from the county that we may have a tax assessor come by in the coming days. We actually came home the other day and found the assessor’s card in the door. The announcement was a bit late. Seems to be quite normal for the PO these days.

  5. I may have told this story on here before; it’s my favorite “it’s a small world” tale. In college I once had a roommate who grew up in the same state where I attended college. She had an uncommon last name. I owed my mom some money and didn’t have a checking account, so I gave my roommate cash and she wrote the check, which I mailed to my mom.

Next time my mom and I talked, she asked if my roommate was related to a couple she named. I asked. “They’re my parents.”

It turns out that in the early 1960s my parents and her parents had attended the same church. My parents had four sons, no daughters. Her parents had no children; they’d had multiple miscarriages. That their daughters would meet in college would have been utterly unexpected to all. Oh, and both of our fathers had died by the time we met. Thirty-five years later (and with both of our mothers with the Lord too), we’re still in daily contact by email. She told me once that her mother said my dad was one of the best Sunday school teachers she ever had.
