  1. Hello again! It’s 6. When I came here yesterday with advance greetings for a happy Independence Day, I was totally not thinking of the past and how I had not given Kizzie a public apology for the unkind words I wrote the last time I had been here. When was that, a couple years ago?

    Anyway, she and I resolved it privately and she graciously forgave me. Thank you, Kizzie.

    There were many stressors in my life at that point, but that’s no excuse. I do truly apologize for whatever those I’m sure sarcastic words were — sorry that I don’t remember them now — and will take every measure to prevent that from happening again.

    Happy Independence Day, and see you at the Tricentennial!? 🙂

    (Fun fact): I’ll be 113 fifty years from now, if I live as long as my dad’s childhood Sunday School teacher did. She passed a number of years ago at the age of 114. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest person in Minnesota, the 7th oldest in the US, and the 12th oldest in the world! 🙂

    6, that is amazing to live that long. I wonder how it was at the end?

    What a wonderful God we have, who gave us the gift of forgiveness from him and to and for others!

  4. Kathaleena, from what I heard, she stayed mentally sharp right to the end, but succumbed to a short illness. She went to some care facility maybe about a year before she died, but had lived by herself in her home for many years after her husband passed. (I believe he was 99 and she 98 then.)

    My dad told the story of running into her when she was 112. She was lamenting the fact that she had missed going to a party recently because she was home nursing a sore ankle she’d gotten while gardening!

    I think that’s the way to go — quickly after a long, productive life — without these long, lingering illnesses that beset so many these days.

    The Lord, of course, knows the number of our days and the manner in which we will depart this earth. Praise be to God for His gift of earthly life and especially eternal life through Jesus!

  5. Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday, USA! Amazing 250 years since the founding. Fireworks abound. Even at 3 a.m. this morning, on and on they went but not in our immediate neighborhood. Thankful, but sorry for those who live close to such rude neighbors.

    So glad to hear from you, dear 6. Yes! What a long life! My friend, Florence, turned 96 last month and still gets out to events and memories Bible verses. Perhaps she is headed for well over 100

    Does anyone remember the Stardust album by Willie Nelson? We were mentioning how successful it became with over 5 million album sales, a quadruple platinum.

    We are at the hospital. Not sure when we will have a clue as to the next destination. This is a true test of faith journey.

  7. Watching Yellowstone on BbC America. Nice for them to feature our most famous park today.

    They just talked about beavers cutting down cottonwood. They only cut so far and then let the wind blow it down. God must give them instinct to know where to go to stay out of the way of falling trees

  9. We got rain!!! I am jumping up and down with thankfulness!!!

    Husband and I realized we were married during the 200th anniversary as an independent nation! Made us feel really old!!

  10. Thank you, Kizzie; indeed, God has blessed our family! Forty years of marriage and counting for hubby and me; six kids, two sons-in-law, five grands (ages 6, 4, 2, 1 & 1). 🙂 God’s mercies and faithfulness through the thick and thin of daily life and its transitions have always been there, even in the challenging times.

    Especially in the challenging times!
