The weather has continued to be pleasant though a little more humid. We’ve had a lot of passing clouds with a breeze which I enjoy .
Has anyone been reading any good books lately? I need to get back to listening to my device. I received a tape of a book of biblical fiction by Francine Rivers that held my attention with the story of Rahab. After listening to it, the call-in Bible Felliowship class I attend did a study about her story. It was timely to have those back to back. Can anyone recommend a Biblical fiction author other than her, Angela Hunt, and the Thoenes?
The Lady Slippers, which are the MN state flower, were at Itasca State Park where the headwaters of the Mississippi River is. We have them in pockets around us too, but not on our property. There are different varieties of the flower, however, these are the Showy Lady Slippers which are specifically the state flower.
We all have holes in our education. Son just discovered one in his. He was reading a cozy mystery type book and discovered that a cat burglar was not as he’d thought forever, a burglar who only stole pets. He said he’d watched 101 Dalmations too many times when he was young.
The lady slippers are lovely! I’ve only seen the yellow ones (and not often–only once really “in the wild”).
Thank you for the birthday wishes! I was hoping to get 59% off at the local pizza place, but largely for my husband’s sake. He always wants to go there for his December birthday but rarely feels up to it. He enjoys pizza more than I do, but I had planned to go there with him today, but he didn’t feel up to it today. He knew I was wanting it for his sake (though I hadn’t said so until today), but he suggested I order Chinese food (since that’s my favorite and something he actually doesn’t like–since he didn’t feel like eating anyway, I might as well get what I like).
He also ordered a cake for me to pick up. He used to make me a cake, but his energy is so limited that a few years ago I suggested he order one from a bakery, and he has been doing so ever since. Well, not every year but three or four times.
Morning from Cincinnati…still gloomy humid and we have not seen the sun since leaving CO on Thursday! Seems to be the theme for this trip in too many aspects. But I have visited my Mom and that has been a blessing.
Happy birthday Cheryl a day late! Sounds like you had a lovely day and how sweet of your husband to order the cake…cherished moments❣️
cool and rainy on the west coast. Got up early for the last soccer game. Grandson played the whole game and they won. I focused on him and got some good pictures
Happy birthday, belatedly, Cheryl. I love Chinese food.
We’ve had warm weather but with clouds and about 1mm rain every day for the last week. The mosquitoes are quite insane. No going outside – even to go to the shop to get in the truck without putting on bug spray. Thankful for unscented picaridin spray that I can use instead of OFF (can’t handle the smell). We also carry a can of bug spray in each vehicle in case of break down – can’t imagine changing a tire in the mosquitoes – ugh.
Ugh! I just commented to my husband how nice it has been to be able to sit out on the deck and not have swarms of mosquitoes. I have seen a few, but not many. I hate the thought of their return.
Happy birthday to Cheryl!

Happy Birthday to Cheryl!
(Peter, I think it may be “other Cheryl,” because I am pretty sure she has a June birthday.)

They are appropriately named and honored.

Yeah heat wave hitting the whole east this week Janice.
Stay inside with the AC on is my plan, when possible.
