  2. Is it any wonder some women stay home? I know many loved this guy but I’m not in that camp

    • Public Shaming: In May and August 2002, MacArthur announced to his 8,000-member congregation that Eileen was in “unrepentant sin” for leaving her husband and obtaining a restraining order.
    • Excommunication: MacArthur told the congregation to “treat her as an unbeliever”.
    • Support for the Abuser: While shaming Eileen, MacArthur and GCC continued to support David Gray, with reports indicating they even referred to him as a “missionary” while in prison.
    • Refusal to Apologize: Despite evidence of the abuse, including the 2005 conviction, MacArthur and the church have refused to admit wrongdoing or apologize to Eileen Gray.

  3. Meet Maleeha Siddique, longtime Refugee Case Manager at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.

She came to the United States as a refugee from Afghanistan more than twenty years ago. Since then, she has worked at Catholic Charities in their refugee resettlement department.

She is very proud of her work resettling Afghan refugees in Oklahoma, it gave Maleeha “the opportunity to serve those from her home country and help acclimate them in our society.”

Another Afghan Muslim, brought in as a refugee two decades ago, now works inside an officially Catholic organization, using its name, its crucifix, and your tax dollars to resettle wave after wave of her own people.

This is the exact same pattern taking place all across the country:

Catholic Charities hires the Muslim refugees they import because “they speak the language.” Those hires stay for decades, rise in the ranks, and turn

“faith-based” charities into Muslim import pipelines, all while the Catholic branding stays up for cover and funding.

Oklahoma joins Utah, North Carolina, Texas, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, and D.C. on the list.

This is conquest with a smile, an Afghan flag, and a Catholic logo.

    Christian organizations are being hollowed

  4. NJ — no one is mistaking the Pope’s tweet for a bible verse least of all the pope himself. He quotes one of the beatitudes and then gives a commentary. However Hesgeth quoted a movie thinking it was a bible verse — even giving a book, chapter and verse. You’d think he’d check the reference before adding it to this speech. This allowed the Iran Lego videos to add Hesgeth: Drunken Sailor ditty to their channel; it ended with What do you do with a drunken sailor — put him in the brig and give him a bible.

As for Vance and arguing with the Pope — he’s out of his depth

My Lutheran friend is excited that Leo is an Augustinian scholar as most modern popes prefer Aquinas and Augustine was important to Martin Luther’s Reformation.

As for the lack of women in the church — a few years ago I posted an article on the divergence of young men and women in terms of church attendance. Part of it, as NJ points out, is the evangelical church response to sexual abuse and divorce. The other is the over-emphasis on a “traditional” or “militant” masculinity which has become an excuse for abuse and authoritarianism.

Quickly scanning the survey there’s a correlation between being Republican and attending church. The question then is what happened first, party identification or church. As more women identify as Democrat is that why they are less inclined to go to church. Or is it because they don’t go to church that they are inclined to vote Democrat — I’m sure it reinforces each other.

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/708410/rise-young-men-religiosity-realigns-gender-gaps.aspx

The high church attendance figures is surprising compared to the rest of the developed world. Even Canada is far lower.

Interestingly, its usually women who outnumber men in churches elsewhere whereas in the Muslim world men far outnumber women at the mosque. Is American Christianity similar in masculinity/patriarchy as Islam? A bit bizarre of a notion.

  5. Umm; point Iran

In Islamabad, Iran tied opening the straits to a general ceasefire that included Lebanon. Bibi of course refused and went on a genocidal bombing campaigning. Support for Israel in the west even in the US is dropping fast — the drop in support and probably words from the Trump admin and Bibi has agreed to the ceasefire. This was the first point in Iran’s ten points. A definite loss for Israel both militarily and diplomatically and a win for Iran as it uses the control of the strait to influence other parts of the middle east.

  6. Here ya go… fixed it for ya!

“However, both the CSAR prayer and the dialogue in Pulp Fiction were reflections of the verse Ezekiel 25:17, as Secretary Hegseth clearly said in his remarks at the prayer service. Anyone saying the Secretary misquoted Ezekiel 25:17 is peddling fake news and ignorant of reality,” he added.

  7. And yes he entered a mosque shoes off faced east and prayed with them.

Pope Leo XIV urged the world Thursday not to fear Muslims.

“We should perhaps be a little less fearful of Islam,” the pontiff told reporters aboard the papal plane after visiting a mosque in Algeria and silently praying with an imam. “Those fears are often generated by people who are against immigration and trying to keep out people who may be from another country, another religion, another race.”

The historic Leonine Walls, erected in 848-852 by an earlier Pope Leo IV after Saracen raiders sailed up the Tiber, sacked St. Peter’s Basilica, and looted the tombs of the apostles, still encircle the Vatican today — a 1,200-year-old reminder that sometimes “dialogue” works better when you have a really tall barrier between you and the guys who just tried to kill you.

When pressed on the apparent contradiction, a Vatican spokesman clarified: “The walls are purely historical. Also decorative. And they keep the Swiss Guards from getting heatstroke. The important thing is that you in Europe and America should welcome everyone with open borders and open arms. We’ll keep our halberds and 30 feet of tuff stone, thank you very much.”

At press time, Pope Leo was reportedly enjoying a quiet afternoon inside his fortified enclave, secure in the knowledge that any potential threats would first have to scale the very walls his Church built specifically to repel the people he now insists we have nothing to fear from.

  8. I entered three historical mosques in Istanbul and took off my shoes in each one, a respectful think to do. I didn’t pray with them — just toured parts of it the same way I would a historic church and in a historic church I would remove my hat, keep my voice down, etc.

btw, if you entered a Canadian home, most of us would expect you to remove your shoes — its the right thing to do.

Hesgeth didn’t misquote Ezekial — he quoted Pulp Fiction

  9. Yes he said it was from Pulp Fiction: note to reflect

I take my shoes off upon entering someone’s home. I do not require others to do so in my home…I have wood floors no babies crawling around and I have two indoor Aussies! That is not the point… the Pope is encouraging Islam and Christians to meld together all the while Muslims see us as the infidel…who they want to murder!!!

, Hegseth described it as a prayer used by the “Sandy One” Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission in Iran, saying it was “meant to reflect Ezekiel 25:17.” He did not claim it was the actual Bible verse. Known as “CSAR 25:17,” it paraphrases a speech delivered by actor Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the film, which itself is not an accurate recitation of the passage from Ezekiel.
