Schlitz just made several unsubstantiated claims in a new order (h/t Josh Gerstein) related to “Juan’s” case. He might as well have said “OMG ICE IS LIKE THE WORST THING EVER” and it would have had more intellectual heft than this rant.
Also–as I suspected–his little luncheon meeting yesterday with fellow MN judges was not to confer on the legality of reversing a magistrate judge (which he of course can do), it was to ask the judges to help him compile a list of nonspecific “court orders” that have been violated by the DOJ. I just listened to Himan speaking, and I agree, Kathaleena. He was very good. Such a calm way of speaking and presenting the truth of what sanctuary cities do that cause an escalation of violence. Those who are wise will listen to the common sense approach . . . those who make money by not listening will put plugs in their ears. I do pray that more can be done at the time of prison release and there will be a great reduction in necessary street arrests. It is the orderly way to manage the situation. God is orderly and I cannot imagine that He would choose the less orderly way that leads to more violence and death.
