  1. Good morning. I pray you are all safe and snug.

Meanwhile the dogsledders are very happy to be able to run the John Beargrease dog sled run after a few years of it being too warm to run. The dogs love this cold.

  2. We definitely have the cold but no accumulation except our driveway puddle is frozen over.

It will be even colder tomorrow morning. With windchill it will feel single digits or lower than zero.

We have a sunny start to the day so things will thaw for a short while and hopefully get any patches dried up before the freeze down tonight.

Now I have all these supplies for future situations.

  3. Morning! It is 14 degrees and sun shiny! A couple inches of snow just enough to make driving interesting! Kare’s post saying it was -33 on their drive to church was sobering! I’d have stayed home!😊

Hoping y’all get dug out and the melting of snow begins… but dirty snow is so ugly!!⛄️

  4. It was 13 degrees when I went out to shovel a couple of paths – one from my front porch to the lane, and the other across one side of my porch. Fluffy snow may be lighter than wet snow, but a foot or so of it is still pretty heavy!

It was not until I came back inside that I realized that my fingers had gone mostly numb from the cold. Then they hurt as I tried to gently warm them up.

I am grateful to my neighbor for plowing out one of the driveways as he also plows the lane.

  5. Mittens are much warmer than gloves. I always change to mittens if I am going to be shoveling for a while. We are always grateful when the neighbor plows out the driveway, too.

  6. Glad you all are doing well with this storm. If we stayed home in the cold, we’d miss a lot of Sundays. 🙂

We are very thankful to have a vehicle with heated seats, heated steering wheel, command start and very warm heating system.

I usually wear gloves, but I pulled out the fleece mitts for the drive to town. Our emergency stash of extra hats, scarves, mitts and blankets is always at hand in the back seat.

  7. Kizzie I’m thankful you have a neighbor to clear the lane…are they the neighbors that your young man was friendly with a little girl when they were younger? Be careful out there! And yes I find mittens much warmer plus I put a liner glove under them…

Kare when your described that car being swept off the road into a ditch right in front of you I gasped…we have seen semi’s blown over on the interstate during high winds but have yet to witness a car being scooted off an icy road by the wind! Yikes! I tend to want to stay inside when it is sub zero temps with wind…I’m a wimp!
