Brrr! Good morning to all. I hope you can all stay warm and safe. Our grandson will be driving home from college, and another has to work outdoors. My daughter did have to drive in to work at her daycare. It is not real close, but it is a busy road. Her son drives in a whole lot of less populated area. I so remember having to drive children to school in the -20 degrees weather. I sure do not miss those days.
When it’s this cold and schools close for the day, I think of Laura Ingalls walking to school to teach in -40 degrees. Either we’re wiser of we’re a bunch of wimps.
I am feeling guilty. We just keep on with the sunshine. 44 going up to 56. I don’t even have the heat on yet today
the sun is heating up the house
but I am glad to have a propane stove. Both the cooking stove and the fake wood stove. So I can both cook and stay warm
I will spend some time today listening to Joshua. They want us to read the whole book this week. The free ESV Bible app includes audio. For some reason on my older iPad I can listen for free to Kristyn Getty. Such a lovely Irish voice and listening is awakening my brain in a new way. I haven’t done this before
Good afternoon! I finally got to the knee appointment. X ray showed bone on bone arthritis in the bad knee so I got a steroid injection. Art was surprised it was a bad as his because I have complained little. I can do PT but will wait because of tax season and transportation issues. We also went to the bank, again. My new record: 4 days in a row. Still straightening out things about the fraud.
We are predicted to have ice beginning tomorrow night. I am still praying it won’t hit Atlanta with its massive number of people.
Morning! 5 degrees and the wind is a blowing. The sun tried making an appearance but quickly hid behind these clouds. Praying for all in the path of this cold and snow…we are experiencing the glitter snow and it is beautiful!
We are in the mid 50s today with low of 40. Tomorrow night freezing rain begins on into Sunday. On Monday a low of14° with windchill taking it much lower feeling.
We’ve hovered around 10 degrees all day; it’s 4 now. We’re supposed to get a foot or more. I parked the car in our “extra” parking space so that our main driveway can get plowed; we’re usually here when they plow it, and we don’t have a garage, so our drive usually doesn’t get plowed, but with a foot of snow expected and single digits next week, I’d rather have it plowed, thank you very much!
Our daughter in the northeast is expecting around two feet. Most of my siblings will probably get ice, but I think we’re “only” expecting snow. I have a potential social engagement Sunday night (a friend who just moved away is back this week, and three of us are supposed to get pizza), but I more than half expect that neither church nor that outing will happen, that my hubby and I will just stay inside for the next few days (other than me venturing outside on foot to get some photos). I lived through the second largest snowfall in Chicago history and have seen my share of big snowfalls, but this will be the most we’ve seen here, and it’s hilly here, so I’m not planning to drive anywhere for the next few days unless it’s still moderately clear Sunday morning. (If the pizza event is on, the friend is supposed to pick me up.)
I think I have insomnia as a side effect of the steroid shot in my knee. It could last 1-3 days. Not what I want for the expected storm. I remember how wired our young son got being on steroids for asthma. Art did not seem affected like this when he got shots in both knees a few weeks back.
Good thing to stay inside and not drive, Cheryl. Your husband is very fortunate to have won your heart.
My concern now with the ice is not having a way to heat food. I saw you can use tea candles on top of a baking sheet covered with foil and then lay baking racks atop the foil wrapped pan holding lit candles and put a small pot over that. Also, I have wondered if one might heat a pan on the car engine. Maybe that is one of those, As seen on TV. . . don’t try at home, lol

Has anyone used John MacArthur’s Bible study on the Parables? That is one we are considering.

Yikes, high temps in the teens starting tomorrow, snow starting about 1am Sunday morning, then thru Monday afternoon.12 to 18 is the call.
Did my shopping yesterday, just waiting to get Cheryl’s car back this afternoon and then we’re hunkering down until Tues/Wed.

Well, Janet, we were in the mid fifties, as well. Mid-fifties below zero windchills, that is.
