  1. Good morning! The temp has risen from the 30s to the 40s. I must be accl8mated so I only wore my flannel hoodie over a t-shirt and I felt warm when outside.

Publix had a birthday perk for me to pick up so I got some free fresh flowers. Maybe I should have waited for the last day to get them, on the 19th, closer to Christmas. They also gave me a free bar cake (I chose the special holiday edition of chocolate hazelnut) which I used on the dessert tray with lemon chocolate chip cookies that I took to our Sunday school luncheon.

Art has enjoyed one cookie a day since I made them. His last will be today. Maybe I won’t wait five years to make more, lol

  2. I hope to decorate gingerbread cookie men, women and children today. I have to make dough ahead of time, then bake, then decorate on different days. I just cannot do everything on one day like I could before. I ended up losing half the sugar cookie dough. I have found out that wax paper is not like it used to be. I will have to make sure I put plastic wrap around the dough. The dough ended up dried out. I was not a happy camper, to say the least.

We have pine needles and small branches all over the snow from the winds yesterday. It will be warm again today, as it was yesterday. One friend posted that he had a 60-degree difference in temperatures from in a couple of days.

The elevator in the senior apartment building is not working right now, so the group will not play today. We don’t want anyone walking down 3 floors and back up! I know one woman who stayed downstairs the other day, because it was too painful to go up and down.

  3. Good morning. We are headed south to see Miguel’s mom. His daughter is going to meet us there. He finally told her about his heart valve stuff. He didn’t tell her before because she had a trip planned to New York and he didn’t want to spoil it for her.

  4. Yesterday I made double batches of nut thins and cranberry cookies, 6 pumpkin rolls, and made 2 double batches of Chai tea mix. I think I am done baking, though I may do some more gingersnaps. They are my favorite.🙂

  5. Happy Wednesday! 60 degrees and breezy here in the forest. Other parts of the state are said to experiencing hurricane force winds…yikes!

I drove to Elizabeth and shopped my favorite little shoppes. You can tell the Christmas shopping is winding down. Empty shelves of the cute items spied at the beginning of the season and not a lot from which to choose for those last minute “I forgot that person” gift! I have enough stash to grab in case an unexpected gift is needed. I do believe I have everyone covered at this point!

Now I need to bake…ya’ll making me crave Christmas cookies! Baking does make the house feel warm and cozy doesn’t it? Paul doesn’t want too many sweets in the house as he is in training for his next 100 mile ultra…he was chosen during the lottery this year for the Hardrock 100…he is so thrilled…(I cannot relate to that!!)

  6. One of our Sunday school teachers works with someone who does the 100 mile runs. It seems like a really super human kind of thing to do. Another of our teachers does marathon runs all over the world. He and his wife both run. They do not have children so are free to travel frequently. We enjoy his photos from their travels.
