Morning! Cold and windy but that moon is so beautiful! Still high against a bluing sky! The moon shadows in the evening have been amazing!
Cleaning day and trying to be creative with gifts I need to have ready by Tuesday! This year I am at an absolute loss! My creative juices have run dry! And I have Christmas cards but have no motivation to sit down and get them ready to mail! I just want to sip coffee and look at the pretty lights on the tree!
I worked yesterday on writing a Christmas letter, making it to fit beautifully on one page within the borders of a preprinted stationary, only to have the printer misbehave. Last time we had to have Geek Squad over to resolve this issue. All I want is a simple machine to just copy! It is so frustrating.
On a good note, the party the music group played at was fun. The women decorate so beautifully, they work hard to have some gifts to give out, and the food is delicious. I admire their ability to do it all.
Somehow I get blocked from doing an ending period for some of my posts. Just plain weird. Period.
I spoke with a mom this morning who said her daughter, elementary age, had named her kitten Cakes but wanted to change if after friends made fun of the name. She changed it to Mayflower. It is so sad to consider that kind of peer pressure.
just woke up from a nap. Thought it was tomorrow. Internet finally came back on. Today was the Christmas tea and I was a hostess lots to do but fun. Looked for ways to complement. Oh yesterday went over the list of those receiving food from the church. One family said no food but I would not accept that. Couldn’t get ahold of her so I called her mom and we went ahead. Saw her today to tell her. We hugged. She just didn’t want to take away from anyone else. I said we just want to bless you. It helps that I also received food years ago
I told a friend earlier that God uses suffering to build compassion for others in similar situations. I said it was a beautiful thing He does. She has turned out to be one twho likes to disagree and be at odds with a lot of what I say. She said suffering is not beautiful. (Not exactly what I said, but if that is how she wants to recrive it . . . ) Whatever, rolling my eyes . . . some people will look for anything to argue about. Truly, I believe some people have it in their nature to need to fight with people and show superiority by winning. M9st things don’t matter that much to me.
Frustrating, Janice, to not be able to write as you desire.
Some people just are contrarians. I suppose we need those people among us from time to time. They need new hearts and minds renewed to be used of God for His glory, just as we all do. I suspect life is not easy for them. They can argue you to death, so it is often pointless. Jesus loved to teach, but he didn’t keep going around in circles with people.
Yesterday I broke a favorite ornament. It was one that came from the few things my grandmother had left. My sister also had one, although I have no idea if she still has it. It was a tiny angel hanging from a bell. The whole thing was probably about three inches. It reminded me that nothing last forever except God’s word, what is done in faith and eternal life. What a blessing such lessons are. So it is with suffering. It is painful and certainly not beautiful, but the lessons are precious. One day no more suffering for those in Christ! I pray your friend is given ears to hear and eyes to see those beautiful truths.
Good Sunday ya’ll. It is a beautiful day after having a surprise snow squall move through yesterday! Ice was everywhere but melted nicely so that we could head out to church!
We attended our former church this morning and my heart is overflowing with His blessing upon us! We attended to witness a dear young man who is close to us be baptized. He had asked those of us who had left the church to be there for him…and we were! We scarcely could dab our tears dry before tearing up again at the testimonies shared of those being baptized. Our Lord is so so gracious and forgiving, bringing new life to those whose lives had been wrecked and in shambles. He is most assuredly moving amongst the believers there.
Janice it is interesting when someone says there is no beauty in suffering. In the life of a believer we know He is alongside of us in the darkest of days…therein lies beauty. We are refined by fire bringing forth the dross lying within to be purified by His Hand. Looking back at some of the darkest of days I whisper “thank you” before Him…for taking me through as He stayed by my side..roots growing deeper and deeper in relationship and understanding…He is good….all the time!
Kathaleena I too have broken something belonging to my grandmother. I recall vividly that day and the thankfulness of having seen it in her possession and been given the sweet memories..now steep deep in my heart even though no longer seeing it in the physical…
There are certain Christian truths that take some time to realize and understand that those who are “not there yet,” even younger-in-the-faith fellow believers, will balk at.
This is may be a silly analogy, but I’m thinking of how we don’t let the toddlers at the “kid’s table” use our fine crystal and fine china.
(Well, unless we don’t mind if they break a few pieces. 🙂 )
My friend is a long time Christian, since childhood, and she considers herself mature in the faith. I think she is totally unaware of how negative she is about people who don’t do things or think in ways that match her. I keep hearing her say negative things about introverts though she knows I am an iintrovert. I never know if I should say something or just let someone go on and on about things that seem wrong to me. It makes me want to avoid her company. She has many good qualities but this negativity is overpowering. She is only this way when we are in private conversation. This does not come out when we are in a group.
Greetings. We have had a busy few days. I worked Wed night, and then had an inservice on suboxone ect. Needless to say, I slept the remainder of the day.
Miguel had an ingrown toenail removed. We also went to a follow up with pcp. We are fortunate that she also works in the cardiology office, so we’re able to have a really good question and answer session. We feel more confident about moving forward.
Miguel fell yesterday on the front walk. Ended up with swollen knee and banged up arm that he hit on a planter. Lots of bruising due to the blood thinners he is taking.
The good news is that we got to attend a granddaughter baby shower. Very nice. Also got to see her sister who is having a baby in February. The older grandson from the family graduates from the state police academy in January, and is engaged to be married in June.
Janice – I’ve known people like that, too. With them, I would try to avoid topics that might set them off, but sometimes you just never know what may do that anyway. I also would try to gently, and briefly (IOW, trying not to seem argumentative or too “Pollyanna-ish”) mention something positive to try to gently counter the negativity.
Thinking about that brings up a memory of trying to help my very negative and critical mother-in-law fill her time when she lived here. One day, a JC Penney catalog had come in the mail, and I encouraged her to browse through it. She at first refused, saying that she didn’t need anything. In a positive, encouraging kind of voice, I said something like, “Yeah, but it can be nice just to look at the pictures.” She scowled at me and replied, “Not really.”
At the time, it was frustrating, but now I can look back and laugh at it.
(The end of the story. . .She ended up flipping through the pages as fast as she could, slamming each one down as she did. When finished, she gave me a sarcastically triumphant look, since she had done what I suggested, but not in the spirit of it. However, she was the one who then had to sit with nothing to do until Hubby got home from work.)
Oh RK we continue to pray for Miguel! Did you get icy snow like we saw ? Thankful you are in the medical field to assess what the doctors are explaining., Miguel and Trey are blessed to have their own personal nurse!❣️
Kizzie you should have handed her a pen to circle her favorite things in the catalog like we did as children at Christmas time!😁
Hi, everyone. Checking back in. I’ve been MIA as I try to process all the things happening in life.
I’m an introvert and we are actually terrible people 🤣😳
We were able to attend my nephew’s wedding a couple of weeks ago – what a fun time with family.
Our dog Kootenay has developed cancer (lymphoma) and has gone downhill very quickly. He’s only 3 and we’re sad.
The camp where I worked for 10 years has a new board and one person on the board is extremely legalistic and bossy resulting in all but one of the former full time staff resigning. It’s very sad. I’m so glad I retired last December.
Tim got a moose this fall and we are so very thankful for all the meat. Our freezer is full to the brim. We will be sharing with our children as well.
We’re looking forward to having all our children and grands here for 5 days over Christmas. It will be exhausting but oh so wonderful. The twins will turn 5 while they’re here, too!
Introvert here…it can be exhausting!! I love my extroverted friends but they know when I am in shutdown mode and they understand when I decline an invitation when there will be an extensive invitation list.
Kare you are blessed to have all of your loved ones around you this Christmas! Cherish those memories in the making as I know you do…time moves oh so swiftly.
Why is it just now that I am learning people eat Moose meat? I just never thought about it I suppose. Does it taste like chicken?! Good for Tim! My nephew Timmy just got a buck to fill up their freezer this winter…he is quite the hunter too! Me? I go to the grocery and pay a kings ransom for a pound of ground turkey!
I am so sad to hear about Kootenay…I remember when he came home. Praying for you as you walk this leg of the journey with him…so so hard….
I treat moose meat as beef. If we do ground, we would add some fat as it’s a very lean meat. I find it delicious. I do not like deer venison. I know people who love it, but I don’t even like the smell of it defrosting on the counter.
Thank you for your loving thoughts of Koot. We are really going to miss our big boy – as will our grands – they absolutely love him and he’s so good with them.

I found a new game, Telestrations, to give our family or son for Christmas. I saw a friend had gotten one and it looked fun

I tried to edit and finish the post, but, alas, I could not.
I also glad you were able to help her, Jo, as one who has been there, done that.

I could not edit that one, either.

Thank you, Kathaleena. It is very difficult for me to understand her need to do that.
