  1. Yikes! 45 vehicles! We saw one car still in the ditch as we drove home yesterday. We hit one icy patch, and it was in a roundabout close to home. My husband is a very careful driver.

I am grateful that God has left vestiges of beauty in the stark world of winter. The reds of berries or crab apples, the sparkling crystals of snow still show the beauty God brings.

  2. 16 degrees this morning with a couple inches of icy snow on the ground. Treacherous driving conditions around here..we are nice and snug indoors!

Janice I saw a photo of that pile up! That is a route we take when we travel back home and we have been on that very road on ice…no fun! It seems no one was hurt in that pile up but lots of damaged cars.

Kathaleena it is so good to reflect upon the beauty of the season. The glitter effect of the snowflakes is truly amazing. We don’t have any of the red berries around here but the pines with frosted needles is a work of His hand…beautiful!

  3. fog. Supposed to see some sunshine soon. Fog is covering the entire Central Valley 400 miles. Very damp cold and depressing

I am supposed to be above the fog line but this is the fourth day. So nice to go up the hill to church in the sunshine. I’m at 1500 feet church is at 2500

  4. It’s 45° here, and I feel like I can’t tolerate the cold every time I go outside. I think the inside of our house has been super warm lately with all the baking so I need to reactivate. I only want to be indoors. Normally, I love being outside even in the cold.

  5. Oh, blessings, the sun has come out here, wonderful.

Just finished two hours on zoom with the scholarship committee.

Now friends are coming in an hour or so. They got me a can porter to take my trash cans up and down this steep driveway.

  6. Greetings. We have had a whirlwind of activity which included 3 different Thanksgivings and 2 shifts of work. I forgot my purse at the first event, so had to drive 3 hrs south east to meet my daughter to get the purse. Miguel and Trey had gone on to Thanksgiving #2 while I retrieved the purse and went to work.

  8. Oooh, I hadn’t heard about that 45-car accident. Our second daughter likely went home that way a few hours later that evening, according to my husband. While they were at our house, after it snowed, they ran an errand and came home and reparked the car . . . which slid down the hill after they parked it and came inside. And they also told us there was a hill they couldn’t climb while they were out and about. Since they live in the northeast, it wasn’t that they aren’t used to driving in snow. (And she’s a nurse and basically has to go to work even if the weather is horrid!)

Sunday school was cancelled here, because our elders weren’t sure what the roads would be like the next morning. But it was warm enough that most of the snow melted overnight and we had church. (And the church our elder daughter and family would have attended back home was cancelled, so it was good they were able to go to church with me!)

  9. Thankful your daughter was not tangled up in that terrible interstate mess Cheryl! That must have been a sight to see their car sliding down the hill while parked! Yikes!
