Yes, indeed, words are cheap. But it is important to properly reference the words of another with our own words. The post that was shared yesterday quoted one portion of the speech and claimed that Mamdani did not mention Americans, but he did in fact do so.
Those matters are important to point our whether we agree with and support a particular public figure or don’t. It is too easy to believe the worst about those we don’t support or like, which also makes it too easy to bear false witness against them. I see that way too often.
According to this, Mamdani will probably not be able to enact much of what he has planned. Scroll down past the “Quick Hits” to “Dreams vs. Dollars.” . .

Mamdani won because he appealed to the tribal interests of the foreigners who have taken over the city. The longer that voters had lived in New York, the less they supported Mamdani. That’s the whole story.”

Re; 2:58 – Whatever motivated Mamdani’s election is a matter of opinion. Opinions vary. As HRW pointed out, those who voted for Mamdani were also American-born younger folks who have moved to New York and tend to be less financially well off.
Keep in mind that NYC attracts young people (and some older, too) from all over America, not only from other countries. Insisting that most newer New Yorkers are foreign-born is not accurate.
Forgot to mention, for those who may not have taken a look at the Dispatch piece, that the thrust of the article is not about who voted for Mamdani, but how far various laws and practices in New York will affect his ability to advance his agenda.
In fact, I just skimmed the piece, and I don’t see anything referring to who voted for him, so – unless I skimmed over a mention of why Mamdani was elected – Matt Walsh’s post was irrelevant to the Dispatch piece.
(I will give it another skim to see if I missed something, though.)
