Good morning. We had a wonderful busy weekend with our two youngest granddaughters and our daughter. I believe we made some great memories for down the road should the Lord tarry.
One of the hits was making homemade ice cream. Since one of our grands is gluten-free, this was a great way to do something in the kitchen with them both.
Kathleen, I have the best memories of being a young child and taking my turn turning the ice-cream churn. We would sit in the coolness of the well house and sneak bites of the salty ice.
Good morning. Another beautiful day. The cold is supposed to arrive tonight. I have some cucumbers i need to work up. They have been sitting in a bucket on the porch. I am glad we got the chimney clean and the woodstove ready.
RKessler, this was made in a KitchenAid ice cream maker, so easy, peasy. They loved putting in ingredients and whisking the eggs. They most especially loved eating it. 😉 Honestly, though, I find they like simple sorbets like watermelon or peach. One granddaughter insisted the peach was ice cream. Those are great for a healthier alternative.
Good afternoon. It feels so chilly here with the dampness we had grown unaccustomed to with the drought. I have been walking in my ‘squall’ rain jacket from Land’s End. We don’t have squalls here but I knew my new friend could relate with her Boston accent.
We had few, only 4 in person and 2 on phone, in Bible study group today. I miss those who could not be with us.
Glad you got that battery taken care of so quickly, AJ!
Oh, watermelon sorbet! For a season I was allergic to dairy and copied down several sorbet recipes, including watermelon, and never made any of them. I just went and found a recipe, because I want to try that! I did figure out a fairly easy way to make watermelon juice, but it “turns” quickly.

Cold here too. Some ice on the windshields this morning.
And a dead battery. ☹️
AAA came and brought me a new one. Good to go now. 👍

My grandpa used to have the best peach trees. We often had peach ice-cream.

Dead battery bummer but AAA to the rescue! Good to know they stepped up for you… not always the case!
