We did something we have never done before, which was going out to a movie two days in a row. We don’t go to see a lot of movies, but I do like to support those with a good message or that are positive. One was “Truth or Treason”, and the other was “Soul Survivor.” One was about a Mormon, and the other was a Catholic. Both were based on true stories. Both were inspirational. The emphasis was doing what is right. Both talked about faith, but neither showed God at work in any miraculous way, which seems to be more emphasized in evangelical films.
The Truth film gives no indication that Mormonism is not a Christian church. I wonder if that would have been the common perception during the time period. I know some said Christians should not go simply because of the Mormon angle. I didn’t realize it was from a Mormon company. As someone else pointed out, however, we go to movies all the time made by atheists and all other religious beliefs and think nothing of it. Doing good should be applauded no matter what the beliefs of the person. Whether it was a wise thing to do would be something with which everyone in the Nazi era grappled and there were and are no easy answers to that.
“Soul Survivor” definitely left one with a feeling good, the other did not. Both were thought provoking. I am wondering if anyone else saw these and their thoughts.
Speaking of kidney stones, we went this morning to find out what Art can do about his that sit there and are too large to pass. NJ, P is welcome to pass them and let Art go to the movies!
After that early 7 a.m. appt., I had morning until noon Bible study group. This afternoon I got to walk with a lady neighbor I met yesterday. She took me down the street to where the sheep and goats live and I got to meet and greet Casper the rescue dog who battled all the coyotes and made national news. What a wonderful thing to do.
I have not seen either of those films, Kathaleena. I have seen a l9t of promotions for the Truth film and thought I might like it. I had no idea it was Morman produced.
Art and I saw Sound of Freedom several years ago in the theater and occasionally we go see a movie with our son when we are on vacation.
His stones don’t pass so he has no pain from them until the pain of surgery and spasms from the stent and other things. 😦
On a more fun topic, Pumpkin, the young black cat, was waiting for me after I came home from the walk to see Casper. Thankful to see it looking cute and friendly. It did not jump up in my lap this time.
Pumpkin will remain outdoors as a welcome visitor. I am not ready for another indoor kitty. If we were younger and in better health I would love one or two, but sometime we may need to move because we should be in a flat with Art’s decreased mobilty.
I went to the church board meeting. Before we started I turned to the gal next to me and asked if she wanted to go next year on the tour called Footsteps of Paul with me. She said yes. We get on well, serve as deaconesses together.
Then today I see on Facebook that it is her birthday and someone asked her what is your biggest blessing this past year. And she said it was someone inviting her on the trip and offering to pay part of the cost. You just never now how God is blessing.
She is our head deaconess and has such a servants heart. I hadn’t even thought of asking her, but somehow as we sat there, I just knew.
Good morning!

Morning! A beautiful day here but we still need a hard frost!
We haven’t been to the movies in a very long time. Close Encounters back in 78?

Is pumpkin going to become a permanent feature in your home, Janice?
