  1. Good morning! Thanks, Peter.

Today would have been my mom’s 105 birthday. Thinking good thoughts about the blessing of having her as my mother.

The other day Kathaleena asked about fall chores. I found one I don’t like. After a rain, when I try to sweep wet leaves off the carport, some leaves act like they’re glued down. It’s aggravating. Also, later, maybe around Halloween, if it rains and washes many leaves down, the streets can become slick as if covered with ice. We don’t have street leaf sweepers or salt to help.

  2. It has been a lovely day around here.

We went for a drive, stopped at a junk store in Sedalia and chatted with two delightful owners of said shoppe. We purchased a couple of worthless items for fifty dollars…but hey..we supported a small business and met a couple dear folk…worth it!

Now I am baking a large pan of apple crisp for husband to take to the men’s breakfast in the morning. Why is it men’s breakfasts get bacon, eggs, hash browns, biscuits, yummy pastries made by wives, and wonderful fruit plates? The women’s teas are comprised of a slice of quiche and a clump of grapes…and tea of course…no coffee…what’s up with that? I no longer attend the teas but back in the day that was my experience…every time…

  3. NJ, your men have it good. The men’s breakfasts at my former church just had pancakes and sausage, with no help from any women.

But your comment reminded me of the elder who led the men’s breakfasts. At the church’s annual budget meeting, he always commented – in good humor – on the men’s ministry’s $200 budget compared to the women’s ministry’s $1000 budget. He said it must have been because of the tablecloths and beautiful centerpieces at the women’s events.
