  1. How can it be Friday already?

I saw yesterday that the Sinclair group is showing a special tonight on Charlie Kirk during the time slot that usually has Jimmie Kimmel’s show. Our ABC affiliate is a Sinclair owned station, but I don’t stay up that late. I guess I’ll set the DVR.

This whole Kirk incident has really stirred up emotions on both sides and many are finding out the hard way that freedom comes with responsibility. Yes, Jimmie Kimmel had the right to say whatever it was that got him taken off the air, but he also should have realized that there are consequences.

I have the right to say whatever I want about someone with whom I disagree, but is it responsible to do so in a public forum or on national TV?

  2. This should probably be on the Politics thread. I don’t believe the issue was with him disagreeing with C Kirk. I think it was that he lied about who was responsible for the murder.

  3. Good morning.

Thank you for the Friday humor, Peter. You have covered comedy and tragedy in one post. 🙂 😦

My friend on the left nicely asked via email why I and others felt like we did about Charlie Kirk. There was a tone of accusation and suggestion that we might have to part ways. God gave me the right things to share while not addressing accusations.

I explained how I found TP on Rumble by accident several years back when I loaded the app because another podcast I watched was threatened to be kicked off FB. I was interested to hear viewpoints of students the age my son taught. I saw the respect Charlie gave to all and how he engaged lovingly with those unlike him and made others treat them with respect so they could have civil debate. I told her he engaged like Jesus with the truth but not forcing anyone, just giving the guardrails of the Bible that God gives from His love and protection so people can live their best life His way.

I also explained how the students were seeking and wanted a better way than they saw older people had traveled. They had been through Covid lockdown and lost social graces and connections. Christianity is about community that they were hungry for.

My friend sincerely thanked me. I also mentioned that I went to the original source to form my opinion, not secondhand news sources.

Sorry for this long post on the Daily Thread, but Peter does not visit the political thread so I put it here for him.

  4. I don’t think that Kimmel purposely lied about who was responsible for Kirk’s murder. There has been a lot of confusion and differing stories in the news and on social media, so it is probable that Kimmel did believe what he said at the time.
