  1. So this is OK, because Orange Man Bad?

Time to shut down the corrupt DC court system.

“In yet another example of the rabid partisanship of the DC legal/judicial process, NYT reporting today that a DC grand jury refused to indict Sean Dunn, the sub-throwing ex-DOJ employee, on federal assault charges.

This is the second time this month that a DC grand jury–made up of the same voters who sit on trial juries–failed to indict an individual charged with 18 USC 111, assault/interference of a federal officer.

A DC grand jury THREE TIMES rejected the Trump DOJ’s effort to secure an indictment against a woman who assaulted an FBI agent involved in an ICE arrest.

Keep in mind–DC grand juries brought 300+ 111 charges against J6ers even for minor confrontations with police. Now, as DC residents go bonkers over the presence of law enforcement officials to keep the city safe and remove illegals, they are protesting the policy in grand jury proceedings.

Failure to secure an indictment is basically unheard of.

NYT: “It is extremely unusual for prosecutors to come out of a grand jury without obtaining an indictment because they are in control of the information that grand jurors hear about a case and defendants are not allowed to have their lawyers in the room as evidence is presented. But Mr. Trump’s decision to flood the streets of Washington with federal agents and military personnel who are generally not trained in conducting routine police stops has resulted in a flurry of defendants being charged with federal crimes that would typically be handled at the local court level, if they were filed at all.”

This is total bullshit. Biden DOJ brought 1,000+ federal misdemeanors against J6ers, hundreds of assault felonies, and the unlawful 1512c2 count.

And shame on DC judges who denied every single change of venue motion filed by J6ers including appellate court judges. This is absolute proof of how dangerously rigged the DC legal/judicial system is and more reason for Congress to defund and shutdown that courthouse.”

Also keep in mind that the jurors are supposed to put political biases aside, judge the case fairly, and they clearly aren’t. TDS has infected all of DC.

    • What was the crime? Didn’t the guy throw a sandwich at an ICE agent? For that we want to J6 him? Do we really want J6 to become the standard for prosecutions now?

  2. Why does this keep happening?

Because we put woke idiots in charge who lie and gaslight, despite the Manifesto already being out there, which police have, which clearly states his motive.

Heather has been in the trenches identifying election fraud – including more ballots than voters in Pennsylvania in 2020 (which the Sec of State continues to lie about). 6. JFYI for those who don’t know, MN has strong gun laws. We also have some pretty good mental health care. Although this can always be improved, especially for the young. That is a growing problem, which has many causes, one of which is spiritual.

Could it be that this person could get whatever health care he got to ‘change’ his gender, but couldn’t get anything else? Where is the honest discussion about the effect of hormones on young bodies and the surgeries etc.?

For the mayor to run down those who call for prayer is an insult to all those who were in that church and those others of us who believe prayer is effective and something God calls us to. Show me the people who call for ‘thoughts and prayers, but don’t do anything else.’

I pray for the unity of Christians in the Holy Spirit and revival. That would make a huge difference, BTW. We could maybe get back to a time when young boys could actually take their guns to school for target practice in the basement of the school! Or bring them on the bus to go hunting after school. That is our history. I don’t know God’s trajectory for letting this country continue to ignore and dismiss him, so I am not holding my breath for this. I do know he still calls for his children to pray and, yes, also to do, but do wisely.

  7. I also believe Christians should be very careful about assigning the label of ‘mental illness’ when people do these terrific acts. There is just pure evil, and it is being allowed to flourish in many places. It should be called out. It is insulting to many who really do have mental illness and would never, ever do anything remotely violent.

  8. So true, Kathaleena. Evil is flourishing and unchecked when continually labeled mental illness. It is spiritual warfare. Maybe if communities of Christians gathered, prayed, and fasted in joint effort (of all denominations) it would move God to fight the evil for the sake of the believers and their children. When people make the effort to gather together, I think God’s heart is moved to act

    Let that sink in.

Not a single one of them is recognizable as a conservative anymore. Every single one folded when it mattered. And today you’ve got Trey Gowdy blaming “young white males” right after a trans shooter targets Christians.

  12. He threw a sandwich at a cop ……… really stupid and yes he should be charged. But it’s the US so there’s jury nullification…… From the videos I’ve seen over the last month, the people of Washington have made it clear they don’t want the federal law enforcement/national guard; if they were charged for all the obstruction and interference I see, the crime stats would be off the chart.

The best video though is the video of a state National Guard (not sure which one) picking garbage in a DC park because there’s nothing else to do. A massive waste of money — just send them home or maybe to Shreveport where the violent crime rate is off the chart and the people support this.

Threw a sandwich at a cop ……. broke into the Capital and assaulted police. If the latter deserves a pardon the former is worthy of jury nullification…..

  13. kathleena — thanks for the interesting link/read

It’s interesting to read a different perspective on the issue — from here I rarely read of any problems. I did want to read the Atlantic article but it’s behind a pay wall.

I have to question the stats. If a patient is suffering from terminal cancer and chooses the MAiD option, is the death reported as cancer or assisted suicide? As the immediate cause, they would write down MAiD but in reality its cancer which caused the death. Most MAiD deaths probably have a different long term cause.

I find it interesting the Breakpoint article cited financial expediency as an issue. In a single payer system, cost is never raised as an issue in care. I would be more afraid of a MAiD program in a health care system governed by private for profit insurance companies. As much as I think the MAiD program is a good idea here, I would oppose it in the US.

To be fair, cost is always an issue but not in the way cited in the article. No one is pushed to MAiD to save money but care decisions ie terminal care vs one in million interventions might have cost in the calculus (For example; in caring for terminally ill children, I saw some parents choose terminal care while other parents demanded massive interventions with little chance of success, a single payer system might guide parents to the former while a for profit system might encourage the latter to make more money)

The fear of “duty to die” is legitimate. Nobody wants to be a burden. Does this translate in wanting to die? I’m not convinced. Do we have cruel relatives pushing us to the death chamber; I hope not.

My socialist ex member of provincial parliament was one of the few in her party to campaign against MAiD. As a black Muslim woman with a life long disability, she thought this “lesser life” mentality was a danger. However, we’ve come a long way from the era in which we housed the disability in warehouses until they died. I see a greater respect for individual life than when I was younger. (although I worry that the campaign against DEI etc has allowed misogyny and discrimination back into the public sphere)

I’m not convinced the slippery slope argument is valid. A slippery slope to where — mandated death? relatives pushing death? From the reports I read, most compliance errors are paper work or procedural errors.

I do hope there is more caution in applying it to mental illnesses. The idea of MAiD is to prevent a prolonged terminal suffering. Mental illnesses while often not curable are usually treatable. Want to alleviate mental illness? promote mental health — build a society that people will enjoy and want to be part of. Mandate a living wage, longer paid holidays, social clubs, parkland, free therapy, etc — a world where we want to be alive.

They revised down 23 of the last 24 months of Biden. The numbers were false. Made up to cover for Biden, then they blow the numbers in the opposite direction once Trump took over. Those were then revised up, because they falsely underestimated, to hurt Trump.

As the American Medical Association’s official opinionarticulates, “Euthanasia is fundamentally incompatible with the physician’s role as healer, would be difficult or impossible to control, and would pose serious societal risks.” That’s especially true in single-payer health care systems like Canada has. Eventually, the decision of who should live and who should die will be determined by financial realities, justified by arbitrary ideas about “quality of life.”

    Yet AMA position on abortion:

American Medical Association (AMA)supports abortion as a safe and common medical procedure and opposes government interference in reproductive healthcare decisions. The AMA’s official stance emphasizes that decisions regarding abortion should be made in a private relationship between a patient and their physician

  17. AJ —

That’s a weird graph / statistics. First there’s a grammar error. It says nationality but then lists nations; that is instead of Afghani, it lists Afghanistan. A professional organisation would not make a grammar error prior to publication.

I have to question why its a London only graph — perhaps it’s because in London as opposed to perhaps Manchester, the ethnicity will be more varied. That’s like applying Miami crime stats to all of the US and then say the US has a Cuban crime problem.

Then there’s the question do they mean nationality or ethnicity? When it says India; does it mean individuals with an Indian passport, or nationality or do they mean someone with an Indian background, that is born in the UK to an Indian family.

Then it says “charged per 10 000”. If I read that correctly, they mean sexual offences — which includes everything from verbal comments to unwanted touching to rape? Would I read it as out 10 000 sexual offences an Afghan citizen committed about 75? So perhaps its a sexual offence problem not rape problem. Definitions of sexual offences vary. This needs to be clarified.

And the real problem with this graph is that these statistics do not exist. Crime statistics based on ethnicity are not normally collected in London. And even on nation-wide basis, ethnicity is not collected. (weirdly they collect the ethnicity of the sexual assault victims — https://www.ons.gov.uk/aboutus/transparencyandgovernance/freedomofinformationfoi/sexualviolenceintheukbyethnicity )

  18. AJ – The people whom you refer to “these deviants” most usually have serious mental and emotional problems, and are deceived into thinking that trying to change their sex is the solution to their pain and deep anxiety. In general, they are not violent by nature.

I’m not sure if these transgender shooters have mostly been male-to-female or female-to-male, but if the latter, part of the problem could possibly be the testosterone they are on messing with their minds which are already confused enough.

    ******

Kathaleena – I think it is possible for someone to indeed be mentally ill, but their actions be an act of evil even so. Someone with some knowledge of mental illness once said that although Nightingale’s ex has mental health issues, his narcissism and bad acts (even criminal at times), were a different issue.

  19. AJ — I haven’t kept up because that information is immaterial. There are undercover police at almost every political demonstration, it matters not. For the most part they are there to observe and perhaps inform in real time. Occasionally they will incite in order to create an excuse for police action. However, an incitement does not excuse one’s behaviour. If a cop broke a window and climbed into the building that doesn’t mean you can follow without consequence. You are still responsible for your actions. The presence of undercover does not excuse those who broke into congressional offices, rifled through documents, etc. I thought personal responsibility was a tenet of social conservatism.

  20. It matters not who the shooter is or what cause they espouse, the real question people should ask each time this happens — is why does this only happen in the US?

Mass shootings are extremely rare in other countries. Other countries have a trans population (or right wing nuts) but they don’t shoot up schools.

Now some point to guns and gun control. Sure the US has a lot of guns and its very easy to buy guns yet other countries also have a lot of guns — Canada and the Nordic countries also rank high in gun ownership — yet mass shootings are rare.

Mental illness is often blamed by people when the mass shooter has social political views close to theirs but again every country has mental illness yet their mentally ill don’t commit mass shootings.

Some people will say its the decline of social and spiritual values but again there’s far less spiritual values in a place like the Czech Republic or Sweden yet there’s no mass shootings there.

Why is America special in this regard? Why do the mentally ill or the politically or socially aggrieved feel a mass shooting is an answer to their problems if they are Americans but not if they live elsewhere? Perhaps Americans need to look at these questions instead of trying to use the shooter’s identity to advance their own narrow political or social agenda.

Mass shootings not unique to US.

And J6 was not infiltrated with”undercover” cops. They were planted there to incite by the left. They welcomed those gathered outside to come on in! Did they have a choice to make? Yes. My friends daughter and family chose to leave when the guard told them they were ordered to remove the barriers. Something didn’t sound quite right about that to them and they were right!

  22. NJ — the list by Reuters is one or two per year for the entire European continent, which has a higher population than the US. Yes other countries have mass shootings but not nearly at the same rate as the US.

In smaller less populated countries, one horrible incident can skewer the statistics for decades. For example, Norway has an average death from mass shootings in 2009 to 2015 of 9.86. However that includes a mass shooting of 77 deaths at a socialist summer camp by a neoNazi. Takeaway that one incident and suddenly Noway becomes an extremely peaceful Nordic country again. That same statistic period 2009 – 2015 means France has a mass death rate of 22 but that includes a November 2015 suicide attack that killed 137 people and the Hebdo attacks that killed 17 people in the same year. Remove that year and France becomes more peaceful. Meanwhile the US rate rarely changes from year year.

  23. One of the reasons I find it interesting to tune in here is the complete difference in news and opinions. The American left of centre news feed I read tells me the trans shooter was a racist and white supremacist who openly broadcasted their intentions on Youtube.

These news groups also point to a Homeland Security group led by a 22 year old appointed by Trump who is in charge of preventing domestic terrorism and extremism. Apparently this kid pivoted his group away from their usual role to work on border security. He also cut his staff from 80 to 20 people. Supposedly the task force should have been fully staffed and should have red flagged the shooter as they were broadcasting their intentions on Youtube.

Every group is working on a political angle which matches their agenda. Nobody appears to care to wonder why some young Americans think mass shootings are a good idea.

NJ’s friends were smart — they observed something fishy and left. The others should have done the same, any action they committed is their responsibility. I said the same to my daughter — don’t follow people into illegal activity, whether its teenage stupidity or later political demonstration, it’s usually police trying to escalate things. Whether it’s the US, Canada or Germany (where my daughter now lives), police will seek to escalate and find an excuse — don’t give them one, maintain self discipline.

  25. HRW – My personal theory on the mass shooting issue is not scientific, has no stats to back it up, and is probably faulty, but here it is anyway:

I suspect that it is a kind of “social contagion.” A mass shooting has become “the thing to do” to get maximum exposure for some who are mentally/emotionally disturbed in one way or another, or are looking to settle some kind of score.

(Having said that, I do not believe that the mentally/emotionally ill are in general particularly dangerous. No more so, and maybe less so, than the average American.)

indeed! She was there to satisfy the curiosity of their 16 year old son…he certainly learned much that day.

Mass shootings are tragic no matter how many or where taken place. The US may be at more of a vulnerability due to a divided society and government. We devalued life before and after birth. Parents get little to no help when confronting mental disfunction of the children much of the time. Too many falling through the cracks. We certainly don’t have all the answers but paying attention to what goes on around us and in our children’s lives is imperative. God help us….

  27. Kizzie – I agree there is a social contagion aspect to the phenomenon of mass shooting. Michael Moore in Bowling for Columbine focuses on mass media for amplifying the social contagion. Europeans blame the US media, entertainment, etc each time there is a shooting there. Both are simplified but have a point. I also think NJ has a point — North America places a low value on individual lives.

NJ — I agree; in that North American society devalues life. Its the main reason I favor the Nordic model — society is governed in that every member of society is valued not just the elite.

Debra — agreed, I’m not trusting US stats for the duration of this presidency as it appears shooting the messenger is in vogue. I did check the inflation rate — its 2.7% and the new rate won’t be announced until September 11, so I’m not sure what that tweet was about. The interesting thing is 2% is the Fed target which would allow it to lower interest rates. Trump has been pushing for the Fed to lower interest rates and by adjusting the rate down to 2% suddenly it’s possible. Far too convenient.

GDP figures are meaningless and the more I know about how they are collected the more I ignore it. GDP has very little to do with the actual economy.
