  1. “Trump just took a literal chainsaw to our executive branch and our constitution………”

    ——

Put up or shut up time Debra, ‘cuz you spoutin’ leftist nonsense now.

    Examples of both please.

Because by your own rules, that’s pretty disingenuous….

  3. “This was not medical care for children. The was a Hamas linked NGO trying to scam our system.

They halted a migration scam to bring entire families into the USA. If it was medical care, then it would be maybe one parent with the child. Videos showed entire extended families arriving with the “patient”. It was a scam.

There are plenty of modern hospitals and doctors in the Middle East that can handle the same issues. There is no need to transport them to the USA. The “children” were being used as a cover for the real goal, bringing Hamas into the USA.”

  4. AJ, the short answer is that every time, EVERY time, the President sends masked men out to disappear people walking on the street or appearing at immigration hearings or working in their yard –most of the time without a warrant (4th amendment) or access to legal representation (6th amendment, and often because of some comment they’ve made (1st amendment)— or threatens people with loss of citizenship and deportation to prisons in other countries (14th amendment), he’s shredding the constitution. It’s becoming Trump toilet paper. And for what?? Most of the people picked up are NOT the ‘worst of the worst’ and that is becoming very well known.
Even if they are illegal it’s only a misdemeanor–like J6ers.

    • No I don’t, but then I didn’t want the J6ers treated that way either, AJ. You, on the other hand, seem to lack a position of integrity on the matter. You railed against treatment of J6ers but when it’s your ‘enemy’ you want them treated even worse.

  5. So basicly your argument is simply hyperbole and your personal feelings, not any court case he’s lost or other examples to bolster your argument.

In fact, it’s been the opposite, including the current round up of illegals, has been deemed part of his presidential authority by the Supreme Court, not some low level dem appointee who got overturned on appeal by Trump.

    • He hasn’t lost most of the court cases yet, and might not with this court since SCOTUS recently gave the presidency practically unlimited powers—powers that are widely believed to exceed those of the constitution. You and others like you will probably not notice it until the shoe is on the other foot and begins to hit home, but SCOTUS itself is also unraveling constitutional protections for the people. I will dig out the original court decision on the presidency when I have time—though I am almost positive it has been linked here already some months ago. Probably unread.

  6. “The Ukraine War Was Always Going To End This Way”

    https://thefederalist.com/2025/08/18/the-ukraine-war-was-always-going-to-end-this-way/

“Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday didn’t yield the ceasefire deal Trump was hoping for, but there was apparently enough progress made that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and top European leaders are meeting with Trump in Washington today to discuss the possibility of peace negotiations and a deal to end to the war for good.

What might such a deal look like? Simply put, it would consist of territorial concessions in exchange for security agreements. Ukraine would cede portions of Russian-occupied territory in Crimea and the eastern provinces in exchange for a security alliance with the United States and European powers. Trump himself has alluded to this, mentioning “land swaps” ahead of his meeting with Putin on Friday.”

“This formula — Ukrainian territorial concessions in exchange for security and political independence — was always how the Ukraine war was going to end. The corporate press is pretending to be shocked and scandalized by the mention of an adjustment of Ukraine’s borders, but the outrage is feigned. Given Russia’s strategic imperatives and Ukraine’s indefensible borders, the broad outlines of a peace settlement are exactly what they were in February 2022, before Russia launched its invasion.

Putin himself, in his remarks to the press on Friday, affirmed the need for Ukrainian security, indicating that the Russians have likely resigned themselves to the inevitability of European troops in Ukraine once the war is over. Trump envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed that during Friday’s summit in Anchorage, Putin agreed with Trump that the U.S. and its European allies could, as part of a peace deal, offer Ukraine NATO-like security guarantees. “We got to an agreement that the United States and other European nations could effectively offer Article 5-like language to cover a security guarantee,” Witkoff told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, describing it as “game-changing.””

  7. I’ve mentioned this before but if we operate from a “veil of ignorance” we can establish constitutional rules that are fair and balanced. Pretend you have no idea who is president — would you be okay with the executive power as they are now being defined?

  8. “Article 5 like language” — we need to see the fine print here. For Putin to agree to anything remotely resembling NATO like guarantees would be political suicide even if there is territory in exchange. Hence I’m extremely sceptical of Putin’s intention here. Ironically, Russia wanted to avoid NATO on its borders — but after invading Ukraine, they’ve had to accept Finland in NATO, that’s an 830 mile border with NATO. On that basis alone, the war has been a failure.

On the other side, for Zelensky to cede territory is also political suicide. Especially if its territory that has yet to be conquered by Putin – Ukraine still holds onto parts of Donetsk and Luhansk. As for guarantees, the Ukrainians are/will be sceptical as the Budapest Memorandum was to provide security guarantees when they gave up their nuclear weapons. From their perspective, the guarantees were a failure. The guarantees will need to be stronger and specific. In addition, can the Ukrainians trust Trump (or another president) to adhere to any promises. That will be a tough sell right now.

Right now, they can’t even agree to a cease fire. Zelensky wants a ceasefire during the negotiations — halt the grinding advance of the Russians and dig in. Putin wants to continue fighting for the obvious opposite reasons.

  9. Lets put the Bush-Putin video in context. That shared flight was prior to Putin’s adventures in Crimea and Ukraine. Relations between the US and Russia were far better and Putin was not yet a wanted war criminal.

  10. My news feed is blowing up with memes comparing current negotiations with Munich 1938. I hate historical analogies. During the cold war, right wing conservatives kept stressing the failure of appeasement even until the Gulf War. They were wrong and analogies are wrong now. I am amused by the change in political groups now citing Munich. Its mostly the left citing Munich now. I do think Putin won’t be satisfied with the territorial concessions though — he will continue to try and influence Ukraine (and other near abroad countries) domestic politics.

Trump with his tweet stressing Crimea as Russian and no NATO has ceded the narrative to Putin; not sure if that’s a big deal at this point but it does indicate his frame of mind.

Quite sure the European presence forced Trump admin to behave themselves this time.

Trump’s (and Putin’s) desire to skip the ceasefire and go straight to peace talks will be a stumbling block and an unnecessary one. Meanwhile in Gaza, its a ceasefire all sides including the US are negotiating. For Trump to be onside with his European “allies” he needs to bend on the ceasefire. Without a ceasefire, Trump becomes a Putin tool or ally

  11. I don’t think I’m going to follow the negotiations blow by blow though I’m still hoping for good news. I’ll try to catch up on it at the end of the week when the dust settles a bit and things become more clear. Everyone is guessing and predicting things based on guesses. And at this point I’m not even sure about what happened in Friday in Alaska. One thing that seems certain is neither Trump nor Putin can be taken at face value right now as they are both positioning and negotiating. Time will tell.

  12. Or, alternative view…

Now single digit honest mistakes, are met with unserious cries of fascism from those seeking to harshly and punitively punish those who dare enforce the law.

  13. ICE doesn’t “disappear” people. Who the heck came up with that nonsense anyway? Oh yes… the left wing spinners.
We have laws. If something is awry it calls for a detainment and investigation. You know the risks when you come here…if it isn’t worth it stay in your own country. New Zealand has very stringent immigration laws. Our dear friends from NZ advised us to not even try to immigrate which we would never anyway but if your own country of origin won’t play those games why expect our country to do so???

And I don’t give a rip if those being deported are the least of the worst… they have broken our laws that protect us… not them!!!

  14. I have at times wondered if there could be a way, which there is not for us humans, to go back in time and see and know the thinking of the people who entered as illegals, and find out it they thought, “No matter the risk, I am breaking this countries laws to make a better life for my children.” They were willing to take the risk, ‘no matter what.’ Well, it was a long time in coming, but the ‘no matter what’ has finally arrived. Yes, it is sad. When people gamble and lose, it is sad. I am sad for them. I might be one of them had I been living in a nation with a bad situation. They have chosen to live in a state of risk in exchange for giving their children a better life. Even if facing horrible consequences now, they still have probably gained overall more than they would have otherwise.

  15. I know a woman who decades ago was stripped searched coming back in the US from Canada. She swore she would never go there again. It was on this side of the border that it happened. This was long before 9-11 and the tight restrictions we now have.

I am puzzled about why the woman would think she was being kidnapped. Surely, she knew these were border patrol or ICE officers. It must have been a difficult experience, however, especially for the children.

Years ago, we brought a friend of our daughter with us when we went to Canada for a fiddle contest. We thought nothing of it. Decades before that, I traveled to Canada with neighbors. There was never a thought of passports, birth certificates or anything like it. The biggest concern another time we were stopped and inspected by border patrol was about fruit that might bring diseases into our country. Alas, times have changed. Sin has brought many complications into all our lives.

Those who allowed millions to just come into our country, including terrorists, thieves, murderers etc. are to blame for much suffering. How to solve that situation is not an easy thing.

I am sorry for the desperate all over the world. This is one reason our country sends foreign aid. The solution is not that they all come here. It is also a reason to share the truth of Jesus Christ and have ministry in other countries. We need to be praying for all our leaders for sure.
