    • No, perhaps it’s my computer, but I couldn’t see or hear any pro-Palestine students. I could only see peaceful protesters waiving American and Israeli flags and singing God Bless America—- a gathering of people cheerfully exercising their first amendment freedom to peacefully assemble. However, I can well believe there are some bad actors on the other side. I think wise people support the peaceful exercise of first amendment rights for people who disagree too. Unwise people play with lawfare to deprive others of their rights, which further corrupts the legal system for all of us.

  1. NJ — from yesterday

Unfortunately, doxxing and online threats have become far too common in every political corner. From what I remember it started in earnest in the Obama era, when the internet and social media became more common. Threats against Hilary Clinton were also quite common. Most of these threats are from twenty something males living in their parents’basement but occasionally they are legitimate. Even in Canada, Trudeau was subjected to countless online threats.

Most threats are harmless keyboard warrior type nonsense but security personnel have to take them all seriously. Based on cost alone, we should be far less tolerant of online threats. However, many people seem to think its not a big deal — much like middle school kids who threaten each other online.

  2. Ah but it wasn’t a middle school bully who try to assassinate our President. The left is much more sinister than that!

And of course the Guardian is going to spin the meeting yesterday into a failure for Trump… just like their Russian buddies….

  3. There’s a growing conspiracy theory on the left that the entire Trump assassination attempt was staged.

Putin was the clear winner at the meeting even before it began. Just by meeting a wanted war criminal, Trump gave Putin credibility. Meeting in Alaska was a bit of troll to Russian nationalists who want Alaska back. A private ride in Trump’s limo was a privilege given to Putin as opposed to other world leaders. Yet for all the red carpet treatment, Putin gave up nothing — no cease fire, no promises, no change in demands. Meanwhile the Russia foreign minister wears a CCCP sweatshirt in a deliberate diplomatic insult. And for all Trump’s pre-summit bluster about sanctions and tariffs, nothing was done just TACO time.

You may not like the messenger but the Guardian is correct here.

The WSJ headline was “Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin. He got little in return” pretty much sums it up.

    • Ukraine and ‘Russia just happen to be the wars he promised to resolve; and the ones we are currently spending hundreds of billions to prolong, However, I actually do think he will eventually bring these to an end by stopping the support for them. Perhaps when he loses the House and needs another very public distraction.

      • When was the promise? It seems that you’re confusing Pres. Trump’s campaign exaggeration with a promise. The point is that he is the one leader who has actually brought the two sides of a very complicated conflict to the negotiating table.

While we are selling weapons to NATO members to then be used in defending Ukraine, this admin is definitely not wanting to prolong the war, but rather get it over with asap.

          LOL.
Trump just took a literal chainsaw to our executive branch and our constitution, but he can’t withhold weapons and personnel to Ukraine and Israel and can’t let sick? Please, don’t be disingenuous, it doesn’t suit you, and I won’t pretend otherwise.

  5. That conspiracy theory from the left of course.
And citing the WSJ for real news is kind of a joke …

If Trump had come away with a total cease fire from that meeting y’all would still cry foul….he is simply a man in a position to try to reason with two wack a doodle leaders… he is not the miracle worker… but God….

  6. A letter from the first lady to Putin.

“First Lady Melania Trump sends a powerful letter to Putin:

“Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger.”

“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few.”

“Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all – so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded.”

“A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity – an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.”

“Yet in today’s world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them — a silent defiance against the forces that can potentially claim their future. Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter.”

“In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone — you serve humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today.””

  7. “This woman worked with a community leader in Washington DC, here’s what she has to say about Trump’s DC cleanup

“Do you not understand that this is what the residents want? I’m not talking about the bougie upper-echelon folks or the bougie Black people living in their gated communities with their new builds. I’m talking about the everyday grandmothers who are dealing with real struggles in their neighborhoods.

These grandmothers have to clean up after homeless people urinating and defecating on their steps. They don’t feel safe walking in their own communities, where gangs and drug dealers—dope boys—are just standing around the corner. This is the reality they face, and this is what they want addressed.

I remember, about five years ago, working with a community leader when someone had just been shot. I can still hear her praying, saying, “Crystal, we’re gonna have to invoke the National Guard.” At the time, that idea felt so foreign to me. But now, I understand. These people feel helpless in the face of these challenges.

I’m so glad that President Trump cares about them—about the everyday grandmothers, not just the privileged few in their isolated communities. These residents want safety and solutions, and they deserve to be heard.””

Let’s see him bring Zelensky and Netanyahu to heel in their wars and I will cheer for him to get his coveted Nobel Peace Prize—along with Melania, of course.

“Heal Palestine (the group who is posting about welcoming Gaza refugees) has EIN 882454707 and filed a 990N for the year 2023. Yet, 990Ns are for charities with revenues under 50K and I found multiple instances of 50K+ grants.

Heal Palestine’s board is full of technocrats … but perhaps most telling is that there is a Mohanned Awad on the board who is publicly declared as bringing “UAE connections to HEAL’s Board.”

Steve Sosebee, the founder of Heal Palestine, also founded the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). They too got an enormous cash influx boost starting in 2023.”

        • Yes. At least the honest conversation is worth having. And I have no long term solutions to offer. I don’t live there so I don’t care whether they ultimately come to a one or two state solution. That’s up to the people who do live there.

I do care about genocide. And I care about how Christians are treated. And it seems that Israel doesn’t treat Palestinian Christians well. That should be addressed. They deserve a voice.

  14. Not sure where Trump supporters get the idea of Trump the peace maker. The two largest disputes have only gotten worse (the Congo is probably a larger war but it is ignored by the west)

I’m quite sure Bibi would disregard any attempts by an American leader to put the brakes on the genocide. Biden and now Trump have similar policies there. However, bombing Iran to help Israel was probably a line the Biden admin would not have crossed.

In Ukraine, the US has become more inconsistent in its support of Ukraine and that has helped Russia. A few months back, the US cut intelligence sharing and this led to a land offensive and an increase in drone and missile attacks on Kiev. The intelligence sharing was restored but not before some civilian deaths in Kiev. Plus some land acquisition in the east. Actions like that have only encouraged Putin.

The Alaska summit probably solidified Putin’s resolve to continue the war. There’s before and after photos/videos circulating of Trump — at the airport he’s seen smiling and even clapping when he’s meeting Putin and then a day later after he emerged from the meeting he looks exhausted but Putin’s still smiling.

To be fair to Trump, I don’t think anybody can find a solution to the war that will make Putin happy other than Ukraine’s total capitulation but that’s not happening. However, Trump did say he could get a ceasefire as soon as he became president…….

I know some cite India-Pakistan but Modi has pointedly rejected any claim by Trump on the peace process. The Thai-Cambodia border skirmish isn’t unusual and a phone call from a US president isn’t unusual either (I’m sure Xi also phoned the Thai gov’t but keeps quiet on his foreign influence).

      • Yeah. He promises mountains and delivers molehills like no other president. I continue to believe he could stop both wars if he wanted to through funding restrictions. If I were conspiracy minded I might be tempted to think his reluctance has something to do with Epstein, mossad, and blackmail. It’s a good thing I don’t subscribe to many conspiracy theories. And I continue to believe that he will eventually broker peace …or someone will and he’ll take credit for it. Either way works for me.

But yeah so important for the so-called alpha males to assert a dress code on people they can, unlike the Russian foreign minister who showed up with a CCCP sweatshirt.

The Trump admin’s behaviour towards Putin vs Zelensky is telling. Putin of course knows this. The Congress, which has been mostly toothless and sycophantic towards Trump has to insert some balance.

  16. Wow. IF this is true it really is a game changer. If Russia really has agreed to this he may have pulled it off! Hoping and praying!

“It’s unclear exactly what shape this support might take, but Trump envoy Steve Witkoff today suggested the US and its partners could offer “Article-5 like language” – reflecting Article 5 of the Nato agreement that states an armed attack on one member country would be considered an attack on all members.

  17. On the Israeli front, even if Trump cuts off funding, Congress will restore it. The only way I see an end is if Bibi is gone and Europe stops supporting Israel leaving the US isolated.

I have to.see the fine print on the “Article 5 like language”. Russian propaganda has always cited NATO expansion as the war rationale and to now allow something resembling NATO in Ukraine would be a loss even if it came with territorial acquisition. Russian nationalists will see this as a defeat hence I cant see Putin offering it

Zelensky’s demand for ceasefire first makes sense from a Ukrainian perspective. The grinding war favours Russia and any break allows for recovery and time to create stronger Ukrainian defenses. Hence Putin doesn’t want a ceasefire.
