The coloring on so many ducks and birds is so amazing. How fun they must have been to design.
Off to a gig at an outdoor festival today. It will be hot. Currently it is very wet out because of a storm passing through. The hummingbirds are playing sword games. I have seen three feed at one time around the feeder. Most times they won’t let another even get on the feeder. It is funny how one can sneak in while two others fight. They are so entertaining.
We moved our feeders away from the deck when we returned from the reunion. Time to keep the yellow jackets and bald faced hornets a bit further away. A few days ago, one of the hummers came up to me, hovered in front of my face to let me know it was time for a refill. They used to knock on the window but just coming to us is easier on the beak, I imagine. Our hummers are much more peaceful, with several feeding regularly at the same time. Fun indeed!
The hummers are very entertaining. I’ve seen several feed together in past years, but it’s not the usual practice here. This year I was late getting the feeder out. But one hummer kept coming to the window to reproach me over my neglegence. Now a couple are regularly seen happily fighting over the full feeder.

Cooler morning but oh so humid. Thunderstorms may be in our near future…, we pray so!
The hummers empty their feeder daily. The red neck bullies the others and it makes for an entertaining dance in the air between them!
A buck has been hanging around trying to eat all my flowers. He chewed all the garden phlox blossoms and was headed for my begonias when I raced outside and shooed him away…he decimated my knock out rise bush….
My 95 y/o friend asked if I have a hummingbird feeder, and I think she might possibly get one for me. It has been years since I have had one. She is a sweetie.
Wonderful church service today. We heard how our church was the command center for county police in the aftermath of the CDC police officer shooting. Several area churches helped with the hosting of all who came together to process what had happened.
