“It has been revealed that DC Police Commander Michael Pulliam was placed on leave after he and MPD command directed officers to downgrade felony reports and alter crime classifications, such as “felony assault,” deliberately manipulating data to falsely show a 26% drop in violent crime in 2024.”

  2. To be consistent would Maine be ceded back to Massachusetts? Would Kentucky, Tennessee, and parts of Alabama and Mississippi go back to Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia?

When Maryland ceded DC, the permanent population was mostly blacks, some slave some free, while the white politicians, judges, bureaucrats etc stayed only for the season and then escaped the malaria infected swampland. Hence, nobody thought statehood or representation was necessary.

Now African Americans are free and can vote so should have representation. Malaria is gone and thus federal employees and politicians are permanent. DC has a higher population than Vermont or Wyoming — it can be its only state. Currently, it has similar representation as Puerto Rico. Strange to treat one’s own capital like a colony.

  3. The Rubio quote/tweet is from at least a week ago. We have no idea why talks fell apart, only Rubio’s word. Somehow I doubt it’s the verbal promise of Macron to recognise Palestine. Perhaps its not Hamas but Israel. The events/decisions of the past week indicate Israel has no intention of settling the dispute but would rather fully occupy Gaza.

The western world is slowly losing confidence in Bibi or Israel. Since Macron announced his intention to recognise Israel, the UK and Canada have also joined him. We are now up to 147 of 193 countries. It’s a core group in the west who are on the outside. But popular opinion is changing especially among the young.

Bibi went too far and people’s minds are changing. In Canada from Nov 2023 to now, sympathy with Israel went from 31% down to 27% but more damning sympathy with Palestine went from 18% to 37%. The rest were equal, don’t know, etc. 64% of Canadians call the situation a moral outrage. 52% call it genocide. Take away Conservative voters (about 34% of Canada) and its higher than 70%. And although most Cdns think Hamas is a problem for peace almost the same number think Bibi is also a problem.

It’s an interesting poll and not one I think would’ve happened before 2023 (it somewhat mirrors the change in my own attitude). Canada like the US was always a strong supporter of Israel. I don’t know of similar surveys in western Europe but I think the trend will be similar especially among younger and more leftist voters. In the US I can see both right and left voters becoming disenchanted with Israel — the amouth AIPAC spends alone should make people wonder who is in charge in Washington.

Reminds me — apparently Trump wants to withhold FEMA aid from cities and states that don’t stop their residents/citizens from boycotting Isreal. Weird you can boycott American products in American but not Israeli??

  5. DC votes 90% Democrat, and their city is a crap hole as a result of 30+ years of doing it.

They are more of a city, and not a state. This statehood crap is just nonsense from Dems seeking to pick up seats. It’s not gonna happen.

Now Rs on the other hand have legitimate claims of dems gerrymandering, as well as counting illegals and the need for a correction there.

  6. Kizzie I realize that but to suggest the black residents of DC have no representation is ludicrous. There are other ethnicities living in DC as well. The residents know they live not in a state rather a district. I suppose I could say I am not being represented in my official state due to the leftist takeover of Colorado.
