Prayers for my Dad. It’s my birthday which also means it’s the 4th anniversary of my brother’s death. He’s already mentioned it and I can always see the conflict in his face and voice between celebration and mourning. For my part, I feel closer to my brother as we share this date, but it’s not the same for Dad.
How ironic, Debra. My daughter shares her birthday with the date of my other daughter’s boyfriend and their other good friend. This young man was his father’s only son. The father just recently passed away at the age of ninety. We picture the blessed reunion for father and son. We will attend the father’s memorial service in a few days. Such is life before Christ returns—bittersweet in so many ways, mourning and celebration side by side at times, like ashes mixed with beautiful perfume. One day no more tears is such a wonderful promise!
