  1. When I taught Spanish and we got to the lesson on telling the dates, I’d trick the students by asking “Do they have 4th of July in Mexico?” Usually one would say, “No.” So I asked, “So they go from July 3rd to the 5th?”

  2. Good morning, all. A beautiful sunshine day here though it was just raining moments ago. Highway 95 is washed out again, after millions of federal dollars spent to secure the hillsides. Guess they missed one.

praying for the folk being hit much harder than us, especially the northeast and Texas.

  3. It seems all the rain we had moved on for the moment. There were many fireworks around last night in all directions, but none right here so it was not bad.

We watched a patriotic music show put together by Bill Gaither. It was suggested to me by a lady in my Bible study group. I enjoyed it. It is not what Art would typically choose. I was just tired of watching marathon NCIS reruns.

  4. Gooseberries are not quite ripe but I found some currants and raspberries and strawberries. Have you tried the white pineapple strawberries? Kind of tasty.

  5. Honeyberries: lonicera caerulea or haskap. From the honeysuckle family but edible. Plants can tolerate fifty below, blossoms are frost tolerant. Pests are birds.

  6. They are. Easy to grow, easy to eat, my kind of plant!

The taste seems to be determined by the taster. I think blueberry but others hint more raspberry or some such.

  7. I went outside for a bowl of raspberries. Fresh off the vine is tasty! While out, I snagged a batch of cherries for another crisp. A few may have fallen into my mouth instead. Delicious.
