We had a very nice breakfast with my brother at Old Hickory House. He gave me a calcium he had pitted for me, like he used to do each summer. That was kind. We had good conversation about the family reunion.
I’m trying some new potted hanging flowers … They require “full sun” so I’m accommodating them. And watering twice a week … using plant food.
At first I thought this summer was going fast but now I’m amazed it’s still “only” June? But not for long …
Need to consult with a pharmacist today, think I am still not having a good reaction to a prescription … 😦
Things can be so complicated.
I have one friend moving to central France in July. Another friend, my best friend from high school, has moved recently to Ecuador with her daughter and son-in-law. Folks are scattering.
Quaker friends want me to move to their quaint farm in NY. (no, but so kind of them to offer).
Everyone looking to be safe and find shelter in uncertain times I suppose.
I am where God has planted me, for now, next to the fresh ocean waves on the open and wild-weird West Coast with all its beauty and many flaws. 🙂 He has his purposes, and in everything there is a season.
Conference ended last night. We, of course, are exhausted. Fortunately, after church today and an errand tomorrow, we’re free until we fly home Tuesday afternoon.
what should we do in Chicago?
Meanwhile, Chad Bird with fascinating parallels between the OT and NT, centered on fire, giving of the Law and Pentecost!
We had a good church service, and sermon from Genesis, and Sunday school lesson in Psalms.
I am trying to make strawberry shortcake this afternoon for an early birthday celebration with son since he hopes to be with his girlfriend on the actual day. Her mom is big on entertaining so I expect they might have a party for him, but I could be wrong about that.
We had a good sermon given by a missionary to Cambodia that our church supports. One of the good points was how differently the two cultures sees and reacts to certain scripture verses. It was very interesting.
Anonymous: Go visit Wrigley Field, especially if there’s a game. Go up the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. Great view if it’s a clear day. Brookfield Zoo.
My preference was never Brookfield but Lincoln Park. It’s free (or used to be) and it’s plenty big. (Both are good zoos, but I used to take the afternoon off on my birthday and walk over to the Lincoln Park Zoo to spend the afternoon there–they have about five species just of bears, both lions and tigers, etc.) And there’s an arboretum and Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan all right there. The Field Museum is also wonderful (depending on what exhibits they have, but it’s the only museum I’ve ever joined for a year). And of course there are lots and lots of good restaurants–though it’s been 20 years and so I won’t begin to make any recommendations.
Good morning, all. A beautiful day here.
