  1. Good morning! We have more rain, as predicted, and the temp is 69°.

Yesterday I went to the Dekalb Farmer’s Mkt. twice with a friend. She wanted to try some soursop. They were out so we had to go back a second time after they got it in.

She is adventuresome in trying new foods. She bought some rambutan (I need to check the spelling on that) and gave me three to try. She also bought black radish to try. We bought purple yams to try. I also bought another trout since Art really liked that. They are farm raised which I researched and the article said they are considered healthier than the wild. Of course, I never know if what is on the internet is true.

  2. I imagine farmed vs wild trout is like most other things in the farmed vs wild category. The wild things (deer, fish, chickens, etc) are healthier in some ways as they are not in a feed lot environment and can vary their food sources. Farmed are generally bigger with precise food intake and antibiotic treatment with perhaps fewer minerals due to limited food sources. Personal choice.

  3. My commercial fisherman relative will tell you that is absolutely false, Janice. 🙂

    What mumsee says.

We went for a walk this morning and it was just the most perfect weather for it, except for the smoke coming from Canada. Ironic, since we have our own wildfires and we don’t have smoke from those.

We have robins with little ones in a nest in the cedar tree between our sidewalk and house. They get so perturbed when we walk by. The nest is under the Christmas light net. We will have to wait to take it off after these jump out of the nest and before the next batch.

  4. Logically, I thought wild is better than farmed. I think the article I looked at was considering mercury levels as a main factor so in that regard it might be true.

I tried my first rambutan. It is such a cute fruit. The peel is thicker than I expected. You score it all around the middle and peel off the hairy part and a perfect white ball, the size of a bolo paddle ball, pops out. You put it in your mouth and enjoy, but it has a seed in the center that needs to be spit out. The flesh is somewhat like soft gummie bear candy.

  5. Seafood Watch seems to be a fairly credible source. Obviously, the consumer is not able to analyze each fish for mercury, etc so nice that they do so. Alaska seems to have banned salmon farms due to the hazard to the wild fish. It is a balance. That is why I believe personal preference comes in. Though due to mercury and other contaminants, probably limit fish consumption. Though if you eat different types of fish from different sources, fish daily might not be a problem.

  6. So I have now been on hold with the irs for 1 hour and 18 minutes and 37 seconds. I’m just hoping that when I finally get through I will remember what it was I wanted to talk about.

I did finally figure out how to put it on speaker as holding my phone that long was not working

  7. So, Dj, will you come back on here and tell me what kind of mosquitoes these are that are eating me up. I don’t even want to go outside.

But I do know that hot water is what helps with the infection.

  8. The grand total was 2 hours and 50 minutes, most of it on hold. But, as I prayed, I finally got someone who figured out the mistakes and he agrees with me on the total refund. It will take awhile to get, but it is in the works.

I just kept telling him, I appreciate you and I don’t mind being on hold as you are working for me.

    Blessed, Jo

  9. Janice, the article does state the wild caught salmon from Alaska is very healthy and most farm raised subject to other things.

We found it interesting that my daughter happened to pick an OB-GY doctor who also had a husband who was a commercial fisherman. My daughter did not live near where her husband fishes. The doctor knew how much mercury was in all the local fish and was a great advisor on how much could be safely consumed. My daughter was very happy as she loves fish.

I think all things in moderation is a good way to go.
