  1. “Justice Alito (joined by Justice Thomas) calls out the judicial coup by the Supreme Court against @RealDonaldTrump…

In sum, literally in the middle of the night, the Court issued unprecedented and legally questionable relief without giving the lower courts a chance to rule, without hearing from the opposing party, within eight hours of receiving the application, with dubious factual support for its order, and without providing any explanation for its order. I refused to join the Court’s order because we had no good reason to think that, under the circumstances, issuing an order at midnight was necessary or appropriate.

Both the Executive and the Judiciary have an obligation to follow the law. The Executive must proceed under the terms of our order in Trump v. J. G. G., 604 U. S. ___ (2025) (per curiam), and this Court should follow established procedures.”

  2. AJ – In case you hadn’t seen my last comment on the previous news thread:

~ “DJ has indeed previously mentioned her concern over what is happening in the news business. But you continue to throw that kind of accusation in her face anyway, as if she is somehow responsible.

She is not throwing gas on the fire, she is trying to bring attention to a concern she has, to help put out that fire.

If you haven’t already, please see my comment at 1:16.” ~

I don’t want to stir all of that up again, but wanted to make sure that you had seen that. Have a good day.

“What a big surprise! A few leakers get fired and a few hit pieces come out from the same media that peddled the Russia hoax!”

“This is what the media does. They take anonymous sources from disgruntled former employees, and then they try to slash and burn people and ruin their reputations… not gonna work with me!””

As British soldiers and sailors march north out of Washington D.C. after burning down the Capitol building and the White House, Chief Justice John Marshall has issued an injunction preventing President James Madison from using local militia and regular Army forces to repel the invaders. The Supreme Court has agreed to a hearing in 6 weeks to decide whether or not invading British armies are entitled to constitutional due process before being expelled via force from the United States.

President Madison and his wife, Dolly, were evacuated to Montgomery County, Maryland, where the President vowed to resist the British despite the ruling of the Court. Madison’s chief political opponent, Federalist Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, criticized Madison’s lawless approach by pointing out that the British soldiers and sailors marching north from Washington through Maryland were simply good “Maryland men,” and deserving of the due process all residents of the United States are entitled to.

  6. Ski resorts are crying that their illegal workers are being deported. Illegals are crying no due process. It begs the question if they wanted to bypass due process coming into this country why should they be afforded it now? And as Kizzie notes some being deported are legal and have been deported will they be afforded due process in Mexico, Venezuela or El Salvador? I kind of think not? Nj

  7. BUT…. There was NO due process when they entered ILLEGALLY! They cannot have it one way and not the other!!! No other nation on the planet allows such nonsense. Nj

  8. Again, due process could prevent the innocent from being deported. Like a weeding process.

We don’t base our processes on what the criminals do, we base them on our law, which includes an effort to protect the innocent.

  9. It is probably a matter of practical impossibility for every illegal to go before a judge at a courthouse. But there should be high level immigration officials available to determine that the person is actually illegal rather quickly.

This business of detaining or deporting citizens by “accident” is both shameful and, in my opinion, inexcusable.

I support most of the MAGA agenda, but if Trump should lose the House in 2 years he would likely be impeached again . And unlike his 2 previous impeachments, this time it would be fully justified. He’s brought it upon himself by threatening to deport citizens to foreign prisons. Again, just my opinion.

  10. Kizzie you would also be anti death penalty? Your comparison of lynching and deportation seems to be disproportionate., And yes I am very much in favor of the death penalty Nj

  11. I just read Saturday’s news thread. Wow. DJ, I hope you learned your lesson about pointing out heresy around here. What nerve!

Seriously, if I were considering hanging out here and I read that thread, it would give me all the answer I needed. I’d hate to see how people would respond to Jesus and Paul calling out false teachers, or urging those within the church to beware of false teachers, because they were nowhere near as “polite” or patient.

  12. NJ – Yes, I realize there is a huge difference between lynching and deportation, and I realize that maybe that was not the best comparison to make. The main point, though, is that a legal process has to be followed to not punish those who don’t deserve it or don’t deserve as harsh a punishment as it being meted out.

As for the death penalty, years ago I read an editorial by Marvin Olasky in which he pointed out that the biblical justice of the death penalty included being fair and impartial. The reality of how the death penalty plays out in the U.S. is that wealthy people rarely face the death penalty, because they can afford good lawyers. There was more to it than that, but that’s the main point that I remember.

Another point that I have seen more recently is that there have been quite a few people on death row who have been found to have been mistakenly convicted.

So would I. Apparently you can’t possibly be polite or patient enough for everyone to be satisfied. We can only do our best and carry on. And so we shall. :–)

  14. Kizzie I can see your compassion for those wrongly accused as it should be. Having said that I see the horrific crimes committed against innocent children women men elderly. In all things great care should be exercised to ensure true justice is measured out

  15. I hit send with my fat finger ! Continuing…the heinous crimes /murder committed deserve death. Taking the life of innocent children elderly men women must end in death. No deterrent only emboldens the evil. Laken Riley was brutally raped and murdered… that dude needs to die! Nj

  17. There are some OT “tests” for the death penalty not brought up too often.

Cheryl, always good to see you. There’s seemingly no shortage of false teachers in politics, in general. They come in useful for those trying to get ahead. They get richer (and more influential); politicians get power (and they get richer too!). The exchange all works out.

  18. That’s actually one of my husband’s pet peeves, DJ: evangelicals who support our “forever wars” which he sees as grossly hypocritical and self serving. He did vote for Trump this time, albeit hesitantly, as he thought Trump’s personality/character not as stable as it should be. And he does regret it.
