  1. First, maybe. (Perhaps not by the time I finish writing this.)

Last night I did a presentation to my local photography club on “photographing wildlife.” I was a little nervous in presenting my willingness to do such a topic, knowing that I’m not a professional photographer and that most people who present topics in the time slot where they put me are focusing on such topics as camera settings and editing the photos. So I told them (when I volunteered) that I wouldn’t be focusing on such subjects, but on finding and photographing animals.

I think it went really well. For one thing, I heard a lot of laughter when I put up one photo I find hilarious (of three young ospreys interacting in their nest, with all three postures funny, including one that looks thoroughly annoyed at the other two)–humor can vary so much, and visual humor is really tricky, so that was a relief to hear people immediately “get it.” But I also had people afterward thank me, and include in their thanks something specific that they learned, which was nicer feedback than just “I enjoyed it.” And I’ve put a lot of time the last couple of weeks into choosing photos and then making “slides” of photography tips on those photos, so I’m relieved to be finished.

  3. I am glad it went well, and people enjoyed it and learned some tips from someone who has been doing it, Cheryl. You have to be able to find the animals before you need the settings!

  4. Good morning with gorgeous thick heavy clouds.

I tried to say Nope twice but it did not let me. Cheryl must be extra special, given twice as much space. Did she pay you extra, the real?

  5. yesterday involved hiding downstairs because of a tornado watch. That was a first

today is quite unusual in that my sister has invited me for lunch and my youngest daughter invited me for dinner. Pray that I get closer to them and guard my mouth. Sis is quite liberal but she is also the one keeping contact with all siblings. Taken us two months to be healthy enough to get together

may try to meet with the pastor in between

  6. Cheryl got First, Second, AND Third!

The pollen is so bad here that I decided the first mowing of the year must be done in the morning since pollen builds up during the day.

My energy is low after being sick so I am taking a break before I attempt the other half. It feels humid out, but not too warm.

Fox news said our pollen is super bad because of the two major storms in the fall that threatened and stressed trees. The trees think they are about to die so put all their effort into making more blooms, fruit, and seed to replenish after they are gone. Therefore, we are suffering extra allergies this season.

  7. Snow and ice. Many wrecks in the area, cars in ditches and roads closing. Now the sun is shining and blue skies abound! More snow the next couple of days….no springtime flowers here!!! (I do have hyacinth blooms in a vase that I picked up at the grocery!) flowers 💐 Nj

  8. No coyote howling last night – unless I slept through it.

Very windy here yesterday and last night, seems to be dying down now, sun is out but chilly temps still.

Assigned to do a story on the big Grant Prix event coming to neighboring city, this is its 50th year on the waterfront.

Neighbors are having to re-home their dog, Nico/Niko (I need to ask him how he spells it or check his tag next time he visits), they’re gone too much but don’t want to take him back to the shelter, they’re asking me for help so I’m putting out feelers, checking in with my trainer and the dog obedience club … he and Abby are good friends but he climbs up and over 6-foot-tall wood fences.

  9. The fox made their den under neighbor’s front porch! The babies were out playing for a short while. The daddy fox comes to drink out of our dogs drinking pail…and he has marked his territory which smells unlovely! 🦊 nj

  10. Abby and ,Nico, friends for life. A little pet electric wire on top of the fence should put a stop to that. Will she stay home while Nico goes to the dog park? I think not, not after the stories he tells!

    you are welcome, DJ.

  11. Speaking of dogs, one left a pile in my yard that I did not see (yeah, the fun of vision impairment), so while mowing I stepped in it with my hiking boots. I consulted with God about how a Christian is to handle such a situation. I did not say a bad word but felt disgust. “Count it adisgusting.

I don’t want to change my attitude toward all the people who walk by with their dogs. I still have to find a stick and clean out the grooves on the sole and let the shoe soak in water for a bit and hope it can be refreshed. The best thing I can say about it is the dog has a good diet. From the smell of it, the dog had not eaten rotten food. I have smelled worse. Looking on the bright side, I did not gag.

  12. Noooo —

~ The shoulder pad is back. Yes, really

Bigger and bolder than ever, the 1980s look is inspiring a new trend for sharp suits and angled tailoring ~

Janice, so sorry! I feel the ewww.

I always carry bags on dog walks and am careful when I venture into my own backyard daily with my long-handled scooper / garden tool to clean up … but I sometimes will miss seeing a spot and step in it (also usually wearing grooved soles of course).

I leave the shoe out in the sun (assuming there is sun) to dry off outside and then in a day or two use a pick-tool designed for cleaning shoe soles to chip it off when it’s dry and the smell is gone.

Electric fence shocker might be a bit much …

  13. I hadn’t heard about that site, Janice. Looks like a great thing.

We drove this morning in slush and returned in a snowstorm. We are supposed to have a gig tomorrow. Hopefully, the roads will be cleaned up by the time we have to go. We are ready for a real spring.
