  1. Prayied for AJ first thing this morning.

it’s chilly here and will be back to the 30s this evening. Most of the blossoms are gone on the Birthday tree.

My friend keeps asking me to go so many places with her. I know she thinks I need to get out more, but I actually enjoy being home most of the time. Lately I have been invited to see a movie, go to a prayer retreat, and go to an author’s program. And more.

  2. Good morning, all. A beautiful slate grey sky this morning. Less than a skiff of snow but melted before day broke. Brother leaves a day early this visit as he flies to Los Angeles Friday. Funeral for the last uncle. The Studebaker collector.

  3. It’s sunny and 54 degrees, going up to 66.

Spring is trying to break through … flowers are starting to bloom but the “grass” is still nice and green from the late-season rains we had.

I should buy a bag of some good drought-resistant grass seed (they’re continuing to come up with hardier species out here).

Janice, I definitely spend too much time at home (since I also work now from home) and I was just thinking this morning how much my life routines have changed in the past 5 years. Abby being such a homebody and very resistant to anything involving the car only digs us in more. 😦

Easy story today on sick seabirds coming into our wildlife center, so I’ll go out on that today.

  4. Crocuses are up and blooming, daffodils ant tulips prepping, fruit trees budding. I like this time of year but if I had a preference, I really like winter. But I am lazy and a homebody.

  6. I was crying tears of joy yesterday, and in BSF we listened to the Hallelujah chorus, so fitting, as I got a text telling me that my friends had been awarded permanent custody of their granddaughter

  7. We had a situation in a smaller nearby town where a Methodist preschool director and two teachers were arrested. The first arrest involved a teacher who gave Benadryl to a student to get them to sleep.

  8. Posting issues . . .

I think the Director was charged for not reporting that Benadryl situation/abuse. The other teacher was arrested for using too much force in holding down a child on the floor because the child was in some manner misbehaving. I think officials of the state agency observed that happening and nabbed the teacher.

This story brought to mind several things. First, when Son was two to three we were friends with a nurse and her son. We’d get together here in the neighborhood, our place or hers, for play dates. At some point she told me she gave her son Benadryl so he’d sleep when she needed to sleep at night. I did not like the sound of that but she was a nurse, and must know best with her medical training. Wow! I had no idea it was unlawful.

On the other teacher, having been a preschool teacher, there were times when one child might be mean to another and need firm restraint so as not to hurt the other. And some children with violent home lives could be a threat in the classroom as they might model what they’ve seen at home. I am sure it has only gotten worse in the last twenty-five years. That third arrest may be totally appropriate, but more detail would be needed from my perspective to convict.
